The elder siblings are really more intelegent than the younger ones. They have a higher level of IQ and in their course of life they excel.Do they get more nutrition in the womb or they have a differnet upbringing. They mature faster and get intelegent at an earlier age!

never really thought of that, like what you are saying here before... come to think of it, im firstborn and im advanced than my other siblings, my firstborn daughter is the same too... but i have a nephew that is a firstborn and he is not, his younger sisters are more intelligent than him... i think its more on the genes... but i noticed kids these days are more intelligent than what we were when we were their age. maybe its the upbringing and maybe we can also consider the technology today. computers helps a lot in helping the kids intelligence go higher, they learn many things at an early age.

Absolutely!! I remember my own mother saying "they are just born smart these days". I think as we progress we just learn more and more about the whole learning process. Computers have done wonders. I remember my oldest having a computer in kindergarten and I was so shocked. Now it's just a given. I do think it's in the genes also and always what you contribute to your children. Self esteem can do wonders for a child to strive harder. You always hear stories of mothers who have to struggle and work two jobs to get by and then their children grow up to be doctors and lawyers. It's because they understood from their mother that they could accomplish anything. Just like the new judge President Obama has appointed. Her family struggled greatly but here she is a judge and her brother a doctor. It shows alot of what Life's experiences can do for us all.

i agree on the self esteem part... they really help a lot in the upbringing of kids with regards to how they will do well at school...

Actually the opposite is more true in my family. My oldest isn't very bright, and he hates school work. He's a stereo-type version jock! He excells at any sport he tries, but he'd be the one to not even spell his name right on the SATs, lol. Each of my children get progressivly smarter, and my younger ones are developing so much faster than their older siblings were!

That definitely isn't true in my famiy. My second born is more intelligent than my first born. He excells in schoool and is in all of the advanced classes where my first born struggled threw. I also have a friend whose second child is so intelligent that he has been moved from 4th to 6th grade this year. He is now in the same class as his older brother.

I don't know if that is completely true. Haven't read too much medical responses to that exact subject but I do know that most parents really tend to go over board with their first born children. Parents want them to walk, talk and read immediately so they go overboard with every little thing they do. I know I did until the second came along and then you start to run around like a nut. My two sons are 26 months apart and are polar opposites. They are now 22 and 20 and still opposites but best friends. My youngest had some hearing problems when he was little so that put him behind a bit at the beginning. I think I over compensated as did his own brother for his medical issue at the time. I know there are major studies out there about what position you are born into and what effect they have on you. Speaking as a middle child and read all the hupla about middle children, I just know from my own experience it seemed like I had to fight for positioning all the time which made me a workaholic and definitely a type A personality. I would like to know more about the nutritional effect as you stated on the birth process. I suppose the mothers age has alot to do with it along with her own health since it is all fed into the baby. Just thoughts out loud. Thank you for the interesting topic!!
