For me it is the bread. A good bread makes everything taste better. While if the filling is better than the bread,I will take it off and just eat it.How about you?

to me its the filling because as long as the bread isnt stale then i dont mind, the filling makes the sandwhich and is why i buy it. If the filling is bad or tastless it ruins the sandwhich i think it can make a sandwhich or ruin it.

for me it's the bread also if i make a sandwich and like you the inside is better ill take the bread off and eat it on the side. i use arugula for lettuce so sometimes it doesn't mash well with certain breads so i experiment.

i think the filling is more important. Yes the bread should be good and fresh, but if you try and stick crap between two slices of bread, it will still be crap. I am not a big fan of whole-wheat bread, for example, but if I have it on a sandwich with all kinds of filling, I don't really pay that much attention to the bread, and might be eating something that is better for me, that I woudln't normall eat, if there wasn't so much filling to distract me.

I'd have to go with the filling... I can get past a not so great bread, but if the stuff inside isn't good...what's the point? I can trash the crummy bread and eat the filling if it is good, but the other way around...trash the filling and eat the bread.. might be good bread, but not as filling! Plus.. I am frugal, not that I'd throw either away , but eat them both and just plan differently next time, but more nutrition in the filling than the bread.

Except for my belove cheesesteak and hamburger, I rarely have sandiches, I prefer to have just bread.

I don't eat to much bread either - I prefer flour tortillas and make "wraps". One flour tort has same calories and all as 2 slices of white bread and since I don't like wheat and grain breads...I'll take the tort on most kinds of fillings.. BUt I love cheesesteak sandwichs and beef dips... so those have to have the bread!

I think the filling makes the sandwich. Don't get me wrong, a good bread is wonderful, but if I don't like what the sandwich has on it, I won't eat it.

for me its got to be the filling... if the filling is not that good, i wont probably be eating the sandwich or i will just take a bite. even my family, if they dont like the "palaman" (it's what we call for the filling here), no matter how good the bread is they will not eat the sandwich.

well you can't have a sandwich with out the bread because the filling would just be that but not a sandwich however I go for the filling, I will not just put anything between two slices of bread, I am very particular.

Both I'd say. If the bread is mouldy or soggy, who'd want to eat the filling? Not me! And no matter how fresh the bread was, if the filling was foul, who'd want to eat the bread? Again, count me out. I suppose you could say...minimally more: the bread. If the bread is delicious, it's a pleasure to eat it with butter alone. But no matter how magnificent the filling, if the bread is below par, the sandwich would be a write-off. Great bread and great filling together: perfection!

That's undeniably true! I have said the same thing with pizza and pasta. If your pizza base or pasta is well seasoned, anything you put will taste great--as long as they are agreeable if not desirable ingredients.

Oh yea, the crust. In fact ever since I learned to make my own pizza I have never wanted to buy or order by phone anymore as I believe mine's better!

The most part of a pizza is the crust.

I am different. I think the filling is much more important for me. I pay attention to it much more the bread. I need more ingredients and I think it will taste well. I love China

I am with you on this.....the outside makes it all taste better. I recently bought some pita's and they are kind of dry.....makes even a tasty chicken salad taste like crap....I should know better.....I don't have good luck buying them.

Although I am not much of a sandwich eater I would have to say that the filling is more important to me than the bread. A good bread is great but if I don't like what is on it I'm probably not going to eat it anyway. My preference on bread is wheat bread but if it has a nice filling I can adjust my bread preference
