Can you wake up in the morning and tell yourself you are going to be happy today? Does it work? I find that if I do this, even if things go wrong all day I am still happy. Of course I am not happy about what goes wrong, but I can keep a happy outlook and then I feel much better about my day.

Yes, every time I wake up. I tell myself, this gonna be a happy day for me. But sometimes, there are situations that I cannot ignore and I got mad. Really frustrating. But before I go to bed, I remember all the things that happen to me the whole day and I thank God that I survived all of them. Then I am happy again because I know that God is always with me in good times and bad times.

Try smiling, I heard that there were some studies done and they showed that just a smile can raise the Serotonin level of not only the person who smiles and the person who receives the smile but also all who notice this interaction between people. That's a pretty powerful positive power that starts with nothing more than a smile. I'll bet it could change your whole day. Blessings and thanks

Huh, no that dosent work for me, I just wake up and hope for the best I do try to have an optimistic attitude when I wake up though, and after that there isent much else that can be done, but most of the time I'm a pretty even minded and I have a pretty even mood most people cant tell when I'm in a bad mood becuse I dont show my mood very often, at least not as much as use to.

I dont think it is a decision you can make once for the whole day, but I do think it is a decision you can make! The security guard at my job always laughs at me because I always have something positive to say! Just today he said to me 'I cant ever get you to complain!' I think he is just amazed that I have such a positive outlook on life. We cant choose what happens to us, but we can choose how we react! That makes all of the difference in the world!

You stated the whole secret right there, "We can choose what happens to us, but we can choose how we react." Thanks

Yeah it works if i really want to be happy. I try to be happy everyday but that mostly depends on what happens during the day. I find it very hard to fake emotions however.

hi. I have never tried it exactly the way you are saying, but yes I do decide to be positive about the life for the whole day and on those days most of the things goes my way. I don't know what the connection is, but there is something. It is not applicable at all times though.

Hi Savypat, I have a happy deposition most of the time so yes I do wake up knowing the day ahead will be a happy one even if the odd thing does go wrong but more rarely is the feeling of dread when I wake up for the day ahead and that one takes a while to shift if at all but then I always look at it like tomorrow will be another day and try not to dwell on it and usually do wake up feeling much better the next day. I go with it rather than fight it. Huggles. Ellie :D

I think i never do this.Infact i always get scared when i get up in the morning thinking what will the day before me get for me.Because every day is a big competition or a game for me to play it and be atpeace on my bed at night. But now if this works with you then i think i should also start with it. i just want strength to work out with my problems and troubles off day

That is the spirit to go about life: positive attitude. When things go wrong, do think about good things and it will work. Of course that you are not happy all the time but I found that such behavior helps me a lot and even the people around me. Positivity and negativity are contagious, so I go for positive feelings.

I hate waking up in the mornings, although I do try to tell myself that I'm going to be happy. Then my four year old son comes tripping in shouting "morning, mummy!" and that makes me the happiest person alive!

If I wake up in the morning and decide I am going to be happy all day I think it generally works unless something really bad happens to upset me. Especially if I go to work deciding I will be super efficient it always makes the day go quicker and a bit more enjoyable. I think generally if people go in to something with a positive manner they will always be happy with the outcome whether its good or bad.

I believe that it helps when you decide that its going to be a good day. I mean honestly, life is what you make of it. We have to appreciate what we have and let go of what we cannot change. We can try and now dwell on what makes us miserable because its unrepairable. Point is, if you believe and keep your mind in a happy go lucky state, you will view life the same exact way. Also do not hang out with negative people, they are extremely contagious!! So yes keep up the happy thoughts and don't let anything bring you down because YOU are the sole decision maker, you make it a big deal or not, its how you respond to things!

It is we who determine if we are going to be happy or not. I know many people who are determined to be unhappy and they find nothing good in their day. Someone always needs to be blamed for something going wrong. If you ask me, they just want to be unhappy and not blame themselves for their negative attitude. Cheers!!

i definitely agree with you. waking up in the morning is a blessing from God and offering a new day to him would definitely swing your mood into a happy one. lightly accept whatever wrong that may come along your way in the day, and your mood will not change. happy mood also lightens a day and will make you and me always feeling young. good day.

I try... My problem is that when I'm just get up I'm not so happy, because of the waking up... After only 10 minutes (that I go to the bathroom and refresh myself) I'm another person and here I start to be happy for the day that I will go to have! I face my daily issues with another spirit and it works fine!

That sounds great. Lots of people say that keeping on telling yourself you're happy or doing well will help to keep a good mood but that hardly works. It seems like I'm persuading myself to be happy but if something bad does happen, I'll still feel so frustrated or depressed and cannot get that stuff off my mind for a whole day. So right now the only pratical thing I do while waking up is to tell myself that it's a brand new day so I'd better do something that make sense, don't waste time. That works better.
