A suggestion to improve mylot

I have been thinking about an idea for mylot to consider. I have noticed that a lot of new members don't read the guidelines. I know because in the beginning I was guilty of it. Naughty me. My idea would be when a member joins up, they set up their profile. After that, they need to answer questions regarding the guidelines before they can proceed to the discussions. You could say it is like a cheat link to ensure that all new members read the guidelines carefully. Of course I would recommend that they provide the link to open a new page for the guidelines so that the new members can refer to it. Questions could be like, "Are you able to put a referral link for any affilate site?" Then the member can click on yes or no. The questions can be few and at random, so that it does force members to read through guidelines. There could be a small incentive for even getting the correct answers to reduce members clicking on random answers. Just for example, if there were 5 questions and you receive 2 cents for every correct answer. Of course mylot staff would be able to set the amount that is appropiate for the site if they do consider this idea. It is just an idea, I think it could be a good idea to help the new members avoid violating the guidelines. It may even reduce the number of discussions the staff of mylot would have to delete. It would free up some of the time for the staff of mylot. I just want to hear your thoughts about this idea. Do you think that it could make new members read the guidelines? Do you think it could reduce the number of violation of guidelines? Do have other ideas that could improve on my idea? Do you even think this idea would be worth it putting it forward to the staff of mylot? Please provide with some feed back on this idea.

Hi chookie! Something definately has to be done to make the users read the Guidelines when they join and indeed a cash incentive could be the answer. I also think that they are possibly complicated for those who do not have English as their first language so maybe a more simplified version would help too. So many think they can just 'land' here and post then they either get their posts deleted or are not earning and they get off to a bad start so it is essential that they do read them. Let's hope someone sees your suggestion and considers it

Every time a discussion askes 'what would you change on myLot' since you started this, I have seen responses mentioning it and indded I have mentioned it myself. I am more amd more convinced that it could solve the problem and I do hope that myLot consider your suggestion snd don't just dismiss it. Time will tell Chookie and thank you for the BR!

I have contacted the staff of mylot. I am not really expecting to get a response from them but I hope that they do read this discussion and they can see the support of the idea.

I like your ideas but I do not think the cash incentive is practical because many people come here just to make a quick dollar and leave for good so they would be losing out. I do still think there is a way of going this though and I like having a FAQ type feature when it comes to guidelines and not having to read one long text. I have only been to guidelines once so I do not know what it looks like now but I always listen to the advice of other mylotters and have never noticed any violations I have made and if I did I just learn from it it was nothing careless (well, you could call it that but it is all in fun).

The cash incentive doesn't have to be very big. Just something small and affordable for mylot. For example 5 questions to give a total of 20 cents. If the new member gets all of the wrong, they won't get anything. If they get 3 right, they they will get 12 cents. All right then that is 20 cents. I hope that the aim of it will clean up the boards. Reduce the number of violations. It was something I had been thinking about for a little while before I decided to post this discussion. I even thought about my own error when I originally joined. I have put it forward now to the staff. It is in their hands now.

I think that's a great idea. So many people are unsure, and there are so many discussions on the subject that wouldn't be necessary if everyone had some idea of the guidelines. There will still be those who carry on regardless, which is why your idea of a cash incentive is good. Another idea would be that people would not be paid for discussions or responses until they have answered so many questions correctly. Hopefully, something like this would deter those who sign up to Mylot just to increase referrals to other sites. Nice to meet someone who is thinking of the good of Mylot as a whole, rather than just what they can get out of it. The majority of members are great and play by the rules, but the ones who are just using Mylot are so annoying.

as i think we need to keep mylot spam free and we need to delete those all unhelthy discussion.mylot can pay more to his user for working all day. and need tochange the main layout of this website and make it user friendly. some time mylot is very busy and user have to wait for loading web page.so mylot need to host new server with extra slot supported.atleast they can update earning in real time so we dont need to wait for view our daily earning....

If a member places spam on the boards, that is a violation of the guidelines. This is one area where my idea could help with. In the last 12 months, mylot did change the lay out. I got use to one layout and then they changed it. I had to go seaching for what I needed. But I am use to it now. What they did, was move the menu from the side and placed it up top. This move made the discussions go across the page more. As part of the guidelines, mylot staff do not reveal how things are worked out when it comes to money. I agree with you, it would be nice to have it as real time but their secret may be worked out. It could be updated more frequently. For example every 12 or even 6 hours. We just have to see how things go.

Yeah, i think this is really a good suggestion. New members should be exposed to the rules and guidelines in myLot, and make sure they really have read through and understand those guidelines. These will surely help to reduce those discussions which are against the rules and improve the quality of the discussions. From your suggestion here, i think of anohter suggestion. Maybe mylot staff can also set up something like a tutorial or brief intro or training session for those new members. This can be included in the sign up process. When the new members complete filling up the details and profile, they'll be brought to go through a brief introduction of mylot and some important guidelines. At the end of the session, a short test (multiple choices) will be given to test their understanding about the guidelines and also some other features about mylot. This is my opinion. Hopefully mylot can be improved in the future.

Your idea of tutorial is a fantastic idea. I have put forward my suggestion and the link to this discussion. If they read it, they will see this suggestion too. There will always be improvements. We as members can only put forward suggestions hoping they may consider the suggestion.

I think this is an amazing idea! I was also guilty of not really reading the guidelines when I first started. I know that it wouldnt keep away all of the spammers, but it would help with the people who truly want to be on the site but havent become familiar with the guidelines! If you havent already suggested this to myLot, I think you should. Perhaps they could even give a similar test again if you have too many discussions that are deleted because of guideline violations! You would have to take the test before you could post again.

I have put it forward now. I was just waiting for the responses to stop before I put it forward. I hope they consider the idea at least. It may be something they introduce later down the track. We just have to wait and see.

yes that would be great, but i don't know if that would be possible.unless mylot would take this seriously.there are still a lot of great features to be added here that my lot members would be happy to know. for me, i want this find friends feature because i find it hard to figure out that member is already my friend.

I also think that you have given a very much idea to make out loving myLot a neat and clean and enjoyable and good looking place. myLot has an obvious guideline where it is clearly stated what to do and what not to do. Yet, some newbies violate guidelines, though most of the times unwarily. So they should be forced to read the guidelines.

I think that your suggestion shall work great. Every mylot members need to know the guidelines, I mean it is made for a reason. The way it can be implemented has been suggested by you in a very effective manner. The hint of a couple of cents to tag along is a master stroke, there is no way then a new mylot member can ignore the guidelines. Good thinking, and the mylot team should really consider the option suggested.

I have been thinking about this for quiet a few days. My main goal would be to help both new members and the staff from mylot.

I think that's a good idea too. A new comer member should have read the guidelines in the first place just when they were to sign up and make them can't avoid that. And just for the additional, i hope that MyLot will display an explanation about how exactly the pay rates per post.
