Today is my husbands last day at his current job, he starts his new one on Monday. In the past two weeks they have, in my opinion, treated him very bad, not answered his questions, given him a hard time about things. He has on the other hand done everything they asked, gone above and beyond to ensure that everything is completed, transitioned over etc. His "boss" emailed him last night and set up a meeting with him at 4:00 today, knowing that sometime today my husband has to take his computer to fed ex to send it back to them, so now he is not going to do that till tomorrow. I am livid. I told him to pack the crap up right now and sent it back, to let his boss know that he will not be available at that time and they have to do it this morning.
There is no reason for him to take our Family time to go send that computer back, we had plans for tomorrow and now because of this Meeting he is going to try to change them. I told him No way hosea. You take it when you planned which was around lunch time.
so he is calling the "boss" to let him know that at noon today he will be taking his computer to FedEx to send it back to him as his exit interview is at 11, that if he wants to have a last conference call it needs to be before then.
Am I being unrealistic???

I dont think you are being unrealistic at all!
Especially because your husband was working from home, it isnt like he has a certain number of hours he will be in the office on his last day! I would say that after the exit interview he is done.
Part of finishing the job is sending back the computer. That means it is being done on their time, not yours! So tomorrow is not the time to send it back.
What could his boss possibly need after the exit interview anyway? There is no repercussions for your husband since he wont be working for them anymore. I say he should do as originally planned!
Enjoy your plans with the family tomorrow!

Hi Meandmy3, I am getting days confused here as I am in UK but no I don't think you are being unreasonable, he has no need for it after exit inteview so send it then or wait until Monday and send in lunch break from new job. If they want it back that badly they could always collect. Hugles. Ellie :D

There is always something that will spoil your plans and it can involve something more complicated that just a simple snafu. The best thing is to remember that you are on your way to a new thing and not to let a small thing become a big hindrance. If you become big-minded then small minds will not be able to affect you or stop you. Cheers!!!

I worked for my last company for almost 9 years and relocated twice to different states for them. I gave my notice because I found a great opportunity somewhere else and they walked me out the door. I heard they have done this so i cleared out my office ahead of time. They paid me for the two weeks in lieu of time but I hardly got a chance to say good bye.
In the past I remember telling my new job i needed 3 weeks notice and giving 2 weeks to my other job that way I knew i had one week to relax and prepare for my new job.
Sorry to hear your husband had to go thru that. Hopefully his new job was worth it for him. Sounds like he made the right choice.
