Where did you learn and who taught you? I learned to tread very early, when I was three. My grandmother lived with us and I was her favorite grandaughter. So she had the patience to teach me. I remember the first story I read. It was a very long story (maybe 2 pages long with big letters
) about a stubborn little goat and a wolf. After I finished that story (it took me ages) I started to read books that I liked best. My mom bought me beautiful books with wonderful pictures. I always prefered princesses and princes, fairies and goblins than animal stories.
How about you? Do you still cherish those times?

I learned to read when I was three also. My mom was a really good teacher. I'm afraid I didn't get that trait though. My daughter is three and I can't even teach the alphabet right. We'll eventually get it all down.

Hi marguicha...Good for you!!
I really don't remember when I learned to read. I guess it would be around 5 or 6 because I was 5 when I started school.
When I learned to read it opened a whole new world for me. I could read about and go any place I wanted to at any time in history and just get lost in the book.
I still read and get lost in the books so much sometimes it is as if time has stood still and I am the character in the book and I am doing all the things they are doing. I have gotten so upset sometimes when I am into a good book and then it comes to an end and I say.."You can't end now, wheres the rest of it"...lol
I love to read and I have instilled into my children to read. My girls read all the time, my son only sometimes.

Hi my dear friend I treasure the memories of learning to read when I was a young child. I was about four years and I loved to read easy books to begin with. As the years went past I was happy to read more challenging books. I read slowly when I was four years old using a mixture of phonic cues and knowledge of the look and say method. I gained fluency by the age of eight years old. My favorite books when I was a young child were about dolls and animals. I teach young children how to read these days and share the same excitement when their reading skills take off. Reading is such a wonderful skill to have and it is one of the most special things all children learn. Hug.

I learned reading at home, and my mother was my first teacher. I was 5 years old when i learned to read sentences so slowly.
