Would you rather not respond to a discussion if it already has a great response?

Even I had this doubt when I first joined mylot some one month ago. I saw many discussions with BRs, I wanted to respond but left it. But later when I found that a user had resolved a discusion and the BR was awarded to the user with the most incorrect answer.
I had to do something- the answer was very incorrect- about a dieting problem.... So I responded. And from that day on, I never looked whether it is a resolved discussion or not! I respond to every discussion that interests me- regardless of whether it is resolved or not...
But I do limit the number of words and elaborate style in a resolved discussion. Why should I waste my time on discussing something that is not going to be checked by the user?
Anyway, I don't get many BRs- I don't expect everyone to give me a BR. But I simply feel that responding to a resolved discussion is like shouting out in a Ghost town hoping that some one would hear us... or like convincing my Principal that I didn't bunk the class, I only had a headache!

More often than not, I think comments are still read even if there's already a best response for that discussion. Who doesn't want to hear opinions of others anyway? Usually I observed that best responses are given to those who gave a good impression first so personally though I often wait for about a month or two before selecting my best responder. I think two months is enough before a discussion becomes resolved. :)
Thanks for the response ebook freak ;)

I love your mind!
Everyone might not be like you right? I told you about the dieting discussion which I responded; well, nobody came back to check it out..And if the guy who started it believed in the best response, he is gonna be in a big trouble.
Many mylotters just stay here for the sake of money. They don't want opinions- simply money!! So they run around making discussions and responding and commenting. They only check the 'my unresolved' tab... too bad.
Anyway glad to see a mylotter like you. But don't you think one month is a bit long...?

If the topic really interests me I'll respond however many responses there are, but generally I'll avoid them. I don't respond until I've read all the other responses, as I don't want to duplicate previous responses, and it can take ages to go through them, especially if there are a lot of comments.

As the matter of fact, we are supposed to reply to discussion irrespective of the number of responses it has received, but sometimes when there is a great response, I don't post my response. I don't know why.

Haha me too :) I also don't know why I don't respond to discussions with massive responses.. maybe because it seems like my opinion will no longer be read when there's already a huge number of responses. But sometimes it still depends on my interest on that specific topic :)

Hmmm... I always respond to a discussion I find interesting whether it already has a best response chosen or not. Well, I really want to earn a best response but it's okay if I don't. I respond on a discussion as long as I find it interesting

Well i really dont look at how a discussion topic looks like.i.e i dont see whether it has been responded many times or not even once, what i see is the content and matter of that topic, because that is the only thing which matters to me.what if i dont like the topic and then what does a number of responses to it makes any difference to my thoughts?i think nothing.
i just choose any topic of my intrest and which i love to response.as was your topic...cheers

if i like the discussion and i want to respond to it, i will still post a response even if somebody has already said what i want to say... i still say it and add some more, i want my opinion to be counted too. and sometimes i think it helps the one who started the discussion if users will still post responses to it even though there are already many responses posted.

Sometimes a person is asking a specific question with a specific answer (like is there a certain type of software than can be used with a type of operating system, etc). If someone has already answered the question it seems there's no need to respond, so I usually don't in cases like that.

I do that all the time but only if the discussion is not a straight question or when I have something to add or have some different view.

Mostly if I reached to the discussion, that I felt like to respond, I respond it without caring that the best response is already selected. I can still share my opinions. But sometimes, I also hesitate...

I think our responses are individual, so even if a discussion that has a great response already interests me, I like to add my own thoughts on it. Good question!

Whether a discussion already has a best response or not really makes no difference to me--kudos to whomever received the response. :) I simply like to keep the discussion going by adding my opinion to the rest of the opinions already posted. If I spent my day on here worrying about whether or not to post because someone already has received best response, then MyLotting would become very disheartening to me. Since I'm here to have fun and learn, I don't worry about best response, and simply add my two cents to a discussion. :D
Happy MyLotting!

That's a nice question Carmela :-)
The fact is, I don't quite feel that all myLotters are honest while deciding the BR. (No Offense! There are many doing otherwise) In fact, I've seen even the most ridiculous responses being adjudged the best; even one liners. I'm sorry to say all this, but it's quite a fact!
So any discussion having a BR already doesn't matter to me. I respond only on selected discussions, ones that I really find appealing. In fact, as far as I remember, I haven't even bothered to check if there's a BR already many a times. I respond anyway.

For me, it doesn't really matter whether the discussion has a great response or not, as long as i feel i'm interested in that topic i will give my comments on it. Moreover, if the topic has great responses, that will mean the topic is good and interesting that it is worht to go into it and give my response as well. Normally i will look for those topics with more responses rather than with no responses first. Anyway, these are just my preferences and little opinion of mine. I just don't know there's any reason for me not to respond to a topic just because of it already had great responses. Happy mylotting!

definitely. i would still respond to that discussion. i still would get credit for that. anwyay, would one be credited more in earnings if he's chosen as the one with the best response?
