Subliminal Messages In TV Shows And Movies

Hubby and I are sitting here watching Medium. Well neither oof us is really looking at the screen, we're both looking at our computer screens, but we are happily enjoying the show in the background.
Something we both picked up on right away is that Mrs. DuBois' cellphone is a Nokia. We can tell, from her chosen ringtone, a ringer known only to Nokia phones. I've had Nokia phones before, and I know a Nokia ringtone when I hear one. I remember the same thing in the movie "Something's Gotta Give" when Harry had a Nokia phone in his picket, and it rang.
"I don't know if you realize this, but that's a subliminal advertizement for Nokia." my husband said, out of the blue.
I hadn't really thought of that.
I asked him what other subliminal things he noticed, and he said that he'd seen a lot of brand names in TV shows (a girl carrying a coke can, for example). I hadn't really thought of that, since I'm legally blind, and never really paid attention to what is on the screen, but a Nokia RING TONE is different, because it's something I would HEAR instead of something I woudln't be able to see.
Anyone else notice the amount of subliminal advertizing in TV and movies? What have you noticed?

actually, one of the things I like about NCIS is the fact that the only brand name I've seen - was actually heard - was Red Bull, everything else I've seen and heard have been made up for the show - the donut shop, the coffee shop, the "caf-pow" Abby drinks and all of that stuff - even the stuff in a vending machine didn't have "real" names on them.

Ahh, here in the Philippines, we have lots of subliminal messages in every movie. When the actor/actress is the endorser of such product its a typical thing to see that their still advertizing the product in their movies.. Such as taking biogesic, coke for their beverage, the clothes they use( there will be a scene where in they shop on that particular shop they advertize) sometimes they even mention it on their dialouges.

I have noticed things before, but the only thing that comes to mind are the huge Coke cups on American Idol that the judges have on the table in front of them.

Hi danish...I hadn't really thought of anything like this since I'm like you - I tend not to pay attention to those things. However I do know that there are some things that have been big - like the Reese's Pieces in ET. I wonder if people are actually influenced by what characters in tv shows or movies have? What do you think?
