It really depends on how I feel about the situation.. kinda go with my Gut.. and my wallet. I have taken and got people complete meals, even given some a place to sleep, but often times, if I feel its a scam, then I dontdo anything... the things I sometimes hate the worst is those with the buckets that come up to your windows and expect you to give without really knowing what its for... expecially the ones that are dressed really nice... and some picture on t he bucket.. but u dontknow if that person is hungry, fighting a disease, or homeless....

I just ignore him. There's no telling what he might be up to. You can't be too careful these days. There's so much meanness going on. It's better to just walk away. Kathy.

Like Italysmom said, it might depend on the situation. It would be a chance to take, though. You just have to be careful. There are a lot of scams going on. Kathy.

I have to really be careful with my money these days because I'm living on a pretty tight budget. I get SSI once a month, which is a part of social security, and that's not much. Kathy.

It depends. If he/she is too old, then I'll definitely help. Because most of the aged beggars are those who are abandoned by their children. So, they need to be helped. But if he/she is young and fit to work, then I'll ignore. I usually hate women who beg by showing infants. They can work but they refuse to do so. They can't be helped. They use the sympathetic nature of some people to nurture their laziness!

If he/she is disabled or something than I give some money to them and sometimes they ask for food knocking at the door, I try to give food to them too ( I usually can't do that though) But if they are all healthy and they are really annoying then I just ignore them and don't give them any money.

this is a hard one for living in NY you come across so many homeless people begging for pennies. It really breaks your heart to see this so I usually try to put a few coins in their bag or whatever it is they have stretched out to you. The other day though I was shoppping in a store and I was concentrating deeply on what I was doing (I was in a craft store and getting all the items I needed for a project) anyway some women pushed her way into my "personal space" and shoved a sign in my face telling me she was deaf and needed money . . i said sorry and she flew her hands up at me. A few minutes later there she was again .. in my face with that sign. This time I was really annoyed cause she wasnt even paying attention to the people she was asking and I felt like she was just trying to get over on anyone who would dish out whatever to her. I didnt say anything to the management though I did think it was inappropriate to be doing this in the store. I guess each situation brings a different response from me.

If I can afford it, I try to help them somehow. Sometimes that means giving them cash. If I don't believe they'll use it for what they claim -- I've seen homeless people ask for money for food, then come back by later to see that they've used the money to buy booze -- then sometimes instead of giving them cash, I'll do something like buy them a hamburger. If I find useful items, sometimes I give them away -- blankets, shoes, clothes, even a prepaid cellphone with a few dozen minutes can all be useful to people living in such situations.

Sometimes i'll stop and give a penny, but not all the time. Actually some beggers are capable of working and making their own money but their just lazy. Usually I always donate my money to old people that are not capable of doing anything. Childrens with no parents or guardian are people who need our help too. Actually if we don't have enough money we don't need to give them money. Giving them a smile is enough ;)
