Why are there so many accounts with avatars?

You see tons of accounts here on MyLot that don't have avatars set. If you haven't set yours, why not? If you do have an avatar set, does whether or not a user have an avatar impact your decision to respond to their topic?

No i just see it as someone who is here for money only or wants to remain completely anonymous from us. I no if i see a picture no matter what i can usually tell allot from a person like your picture, it tells me your carefree, here for fun, and enjoy life.

No, it doesn't matter to me if a member has no avatar set. If the discussion is one that interests me I'll still respond to it but I do like looking at the differernt avatars that most folks here have.

I think one of the first things I did here was to upload my picture. But it comes from having experience on various sites. I am a freelance writer (I come here to goof off) and I use this picture (and username) and a couple of others pretty much on most of the sites that I belong to. I like people to recognize me when they encounter me elsewhere. There are a couple of sites that I don't use my own picture, but the subject matter and my style come though; that and a lot of people have seen pictures of my cats. I just rack those without avatars as relative newbies. I go by the content of the posting, not the avatar. Though I will admit avatars are nice; after awhile you start to associate people to their avatars.

it is true many people in this community have an avatar and not their personal photo!!may be because mylot is seeing as a global forum and so it is suitable an avatar than personal photo!!Probably some personal social network as facebook, bebo, myspace is much spread to share personal albums and so also put an image of yourself it is normal!! I don't know if this have a real impact to respod to a topic or not..personally i like avatars and normally are funny but even the personal photo is nice too...i respond to a topic that it is a nice topic for me or cuirous question...like that i did not have many attention about avatar or photo..

I don't really like putting avatars on any sites. Firstly, I'm never sure what to put. I'm not comfortable with a real picture, so what does that leave? Secondly, my computer is usually coming out of a reload, so it's a pain to find images. I just have this one on because it was on my laptop at the time, even though it doesn't represent me at all.
