I went shopping with my dad on Wednesday and he said do you remeber when you were little and we all used to try and guess how much the shopping would come to, lets have a guess today. He gues £80 and I guessed £40. The shopping was £40.78, well done me. Well I went shopping again yesterday and when I got to the checkout I said to the lad about the Wdensday shop and I said I was guesing the shop would come to somewhere between £6 and £70 it came to £67. So what guessing games do you or family play and who is the best at guessing? Huggles. Ellie :D

I must say that when it comes to shopping, I'm a no-brainer. But I can definitely observe the first time round I see a price tag and the next time, even if you close the tags, I can second guess them. Guess I'm a mystery shopper too, because I just love to observe how the sales people treat customers. And I won't hesitate to give positive feed-backs when I see deserved to be praised employees.

Hi Zed, A mystery shopper eh! Best put on my biggest smile in case you ever come into my shop. I love people watching whereever I am. It is lovely that you give positive feed back very rarely that people do these days. Hugles. Ellie :D

My second daughter used to LOVE doing the shopping bill guessing game, Ellie! When she was about 9 or 10, she'd calculate the prices in her head while we were walking around the supermarket - and was always really close to the mark! One day I added some razors to the pile without telling her, and she was horrified when her calculation was $7 out of whack - she prided herself on her accuracy - so she was pretty relieved when she discovered the razor blades!

Hi Guybrush, I can imagine her face if she was that good and you putting those razors in really through her calculations out. It makes shopping much more fun eh! Huggles. Ellie :D

She thought I'd done it on purpose to trick her, Ellie - but I hadn't, I just remembered when I saw them at the checkout my husband had asked for blades, and popped them in the trolley at the last minute. My daughter still loves maths and facts and figures - (she definitely didn't get it from me!)

we do trivia all the time, we guess things like who is the best paid actor, or what was used for pain before the invention of aspirin, and then we go and look it up. I love trivia games I always have.

I never play shopping guessing game...most often I plan my shopping not to be more than the number I want to spend. It is hard those days to g shopping and spend less than $40 at once. I am trying to keep all on budget, but my budget spending is on my pets now...

Hi Polachicago, Yes pet food seems to be more expensive than human food these days, I try to bulk buy mine and that way it does save a bit in the long run, it is my rabbits that eat the most and then there is the straw and hay too but I also use my shredded paper as extra bedding for them to bulk out the straw. My Dad could always guess presents. He would be handed his gift and we would all say (even if it was from one of us and the rest didn't know what was inside) "Guess what it is!" amid gleeful laughter. Dad would turn the package, weigh it and he would guess...he would be between 50-100% correct. We would try and give him things he could not possibly guess but he would always get close or be spot on.

Working in a supermarket I get a couple of people who like to 'estimate' how much they shopping will come to. There is one family who come in, the son and his partner will go around the store and he will add it up on his mobile phone calculator. He is always out by a few pounds. I did tell him once that if he got it right I would pay for his shopping, luckily the one time he did get it right I wasn't there!!!! lol His parents and his son like to estimate the shopping, the little lad will wait until the bottles of pop have gone through and then they all estimate. One of them is always near! As the cashier I think it is exciting scanning the things and totalling it and then seeing who if anyone was close. I have never done this when I have been shopping be it on my own, with my partner or my parents.

Hi Cinderella, Wow yes luckily for you you weren't there the day he guessed right, that could have worked out really expensive. Nice to know though that you find it fun to do also when the customers do it, thanks for sharing. Huggles Ellie :D

I don't really care for guessing games, probably because I'm not very good at them... Now, having said that, I guess I'm paranoid enough to also think there must be some kind of "trick" to the game. I suppose that part of that is because with my brother there always was. But I learned to really consider the question when I was asked: "Guess what..." For example, my sister called home and said "Guess what color my friend Annette's new contects are?" Hmmmm, why would she want ME to guess this? Why would I care what color these contacts are? Well, my favorite color was/is purple, so... "Purple?" as it turned out - yes, to make her eyes look more brown... Can I get some to make my eyes look Purple, that works for me... so, I guess I view guessing games as tricks and traps.

Hi Jill, We hadn't done it for years so it was good fun, he was way out but then he probably just chucks it all in his trolley and pays whereas I am more frugal in my shopping these days. Huggles. Ellie :D

We play the "what song is next?" on the CD player in the car. Its a 6 disc changer and there are a lot of different artists on the CDs I make, its an odds game, sometimes we all get at least one right. "Song 8, disc 4", I win!! We also try to guess how many miles to the tank we will get after filling up, it changes based on the previous MPGs from the last tank so I'm usually the one that wins since I know from looking at it all the time.
