My ipod went missing, so I decided to go online and see if I could find a bargain on a BRAND NEW ipod. I would even settle for a used ipod if the price was right. But then I stumbled on some generic NON-Brand name mp3 & mp4 players ( made in China ) Now my question is, what are the pros and cons for buying brand name ipods and generic mp3/ mp4 players. Would you buy an ipod or a generic mp3 or mp4 player? (which you could get for less than half the price of an ipod ) thanks,Michael

If you try the ChinaPod before you buy it and you think it have every thing you need then is nothing to be said against it. But i think its not easy to get your warranty claim if it break. Spam28

i love my ipod more than life itself it even has a name zeepod. ha ha yes strange i know but this is like my best friend. my ipod can play videos and songs, i can download ebooks too and keep notes, pictures, it tells international time, there is a calendar in there too.this is pretty great for those long roadtrips or flights. i recommend getting the real deal, this is because should anything happen to your ipod whilst it is still under warranty, apple fixes it for free. if they cannot fix it then they will send you a brand new one to replace the old one. one thing that i would recommend is backing up all your music and stuff on the computer, because when you send it in to be fixed you have to wipe it clean. i am able to watch series that i have downloaded on my ipod, and it stores a lot of music too at present i have about 200 albums on there. besides which you get what you pay for, with technology i would rather spend the money and get quality, it is totally worth it. if you do not then you run the risk of getting some useless gadget that will not last very long whose software will degrade quickly. with ipod you not only get a great quality machine but you also get the repair service, and when the warrantly runs out you have the option to pay a little more in order for it to be strethved longer. i lost my ipod for 2 days and it was the worst time ever, i have never felt so lonely. let us know what you end up purchasing. oh and 2 secnd hand ipod is not a good idea, best save up and buy one brand new.

i would prefer to buy a genuine brand even though it is a used one when it comes to electronics... i just don't want to risk it with a generic brand... you don't know what will happen... another options is to wait a little bit and save up before buying a brand new ipod... so sorry to hear about what is happening to your ipod... good luck... take care and have a nice day...

I'd go for the iPod. Here's why. I have a Creative Zen music player. It's nice. Works well. My daughter has an iPod and just recently bought an iPod Touch. Well right away you notice the differences. The media available for the iPod outweighs what's available for my Zen. It's also much easier for my daughter to put said media on her player than it is for me to put songs on my Zen. I really wish I would have just saved the money I used on the Zen towards an iPod! Be careful when buying completely generic players & remember that you get what you pay for.

I prefer you buy an ipod. You are sure of Ipod's quality unlike the generic ones. There was even a news that some generic gadgets explodes when charged! Generic may be cheap but it won't last long.

i suggest you stick to the original one. there are ipod nanos that cost less than the ipod original although they have limited space. if you love videos then you don't have any choice but to buy the original ipod. generic or imitation brands from china are ok for the first 1-3 years but it doesn't last long. my ipod is already 3years old and my friend's is almost 4 years old. although ipods are more expensive they are more reliable and you will use them for a long time. the price is worth it.

You can take your chances. You get what you pay for. So you pay for half the price, it may last you hopefully for half the year. Then you have to contend with it working with your computer and music player. Sometimes it is just easier to spend more to know what you are getting.
