This is one subject that I have always wondered about. Also it the poorest people who breed the most or so it seems. Many of them can barely afford two meals a day yet keep on bringing more and more children leading to more mouths to feed.

I go along with the above post. In Africa, a woman who can't give birth to children is an outcast and a very good reason to be divorced or cast out. It is crucial to have lots of children to look after yourself in old age. Bear in mind that the expected life span of a person in Zimbabwe is 37. I only know that stat as I used to live there. It is difficult to judge other races on your own life style.

i think that in poorer countries the view is that the more children you have, then the more people you will have to look after you when you are old and grey. Children in these countries often work from a young age and can bring in an income to the family. in many countries, women can marry into wealth, and make their poorer families richer my their own marriage. In developed countries, we often have more hectic lifestyles. We know that our quality of life requires probably 2 children max to be able to manage to work and look after our children. Because of birth control, there are fewer 'accidents' and family planning is prevalent and people have a choice on whether they wish to go ahead with a pregnancy or not.
