Filipinos in the US, how are you affected by the recession?

I mean, are you guys still very much employed? Of course, I'm not talking about Fiipinos who belong to the affluent society who go to the US for vacation or have mansions there. I'm talking about the working class. I've been a mylotter for more than a year now. I'm so happy to know some of our fellow Filipinos, though having U.S. as the country of residence (no matter how long they've been there), they still identify themselves as Filipinos. I wonder what you do for a living right now. Are you able to make both ends meet and even have some money left to save up knowing the cost of living there is too high? How many jobs do you have? Does anyone have double or triple job? Who has only one job that pays well (or not so well), and who does not have a job?

I'm not a filippino.. haha =D Though i dunno about how life in US is going on, for filippinos, but i dun think it's as easy as in the past.. With the current recession now, alot of ple are unemployed, and that includes USA citizens themselves.. ANd for most companies, they will always choose to retain local staffs and retrench foreign workers instead.. THus, i believe that, life over there is not as easy now, along with racism over there?? Imagine what is gonna happen??

Well, they could be as racist as they want to be but I think they can't help hiring Filipinos because, whether they admit it or not, the majority of the Filipinos know how to care for their elderly people, they are versatile, they demand less, they're industrious, they're creative and resourceful, and they are polite employees. I think these things are only understood by non-racist because those who give Filipinos a chance are the only once who could truly enjoy the benefits. In long and short of it, racism is one of the major challenges our OFWs have to bear with.
