I was employed with an international jewellery company where i worked as a hostess. My job was to send as many people as i could in the store so they could make sales. So after a while the staff decided that they need to be unionized or they would stay underpaid. This large company which i wont mention has over a hundred stores. After the unions attempt to see justice served we voted and got marjority but instead of accepting defeat the general manager decided to fire staff members who voted for the union. Is that right?Dont employees have rights too?

I got one question after reading the whole content in your post, does the union formed legit or not? I mean registered and verified by law. If it's a legit union, I don't think so that the General Manager(hereinafter "GM" able to take that such stern action against you all. When we say, rights; law is the reference to it.
Similarly on here, we as myLotters got rights, where is our rights? Our rights based on UToA(User Terms of Agreement) http://www.mylot.com/o/terms.aspx and legal http://www.mylot.com/o/legal.aspx
In one company, a GM is categorized under "Second Managers" by Companies Act in any country. Which means, GM also a person appointed by company's Board of Directors.
This is the real problem when one worker's union led by inept leader.

Meaning that, this a perfect time for workers union leader to "fight" for the rights. You all need uncorrupted leader in your workers union. What I can guess now is your leader already pacified by that GM by a promissory promotion or its kinda. Remember, I used the word "guess". So that your leader will not perform any protest or things sort of like that. So, you-all are the victims, having said third party victims.
