If a person's visa expires on December, is it ok if he uses it on November (one month before its expiration)? I know for certain that the passport has to be valid 6months after the date that it will be used for travel, but I don't know if there is any similar rule on Visas. (For example, if one is to travel on December, then the passport's expiration has to be June of the next year or further than that).

hi oyenkai, visas will be issued for the period of your option, visas are issued with specific validity days/months/multiple entry like that,if there is a validity of visa you can utilise/travel without any hesitation,if the visa expires when you are in abroad, you have to contact to external affairs of that country and renew your visa accordingly

So that means that as long as the visa is valid for the period of the whole stay in that country, then there's no problem? Even if a person leaves then comes back then his visa expires on the very next day, that's OK?

Yes of course you can, it actually gives you extra time in the country you are visiting. We reside in Thailand as expats. We have 12 month visas which are valid for 15 months because we leave the country and come back in again just before the visa expiration date, everytime we enter the country we are given a 90 day entry stamp. Here we need to leave the country every 90 days, stupid but its the law.

Oh that was informative! So that means that as long as the visa is valid upon entry to the foreign country, then it's ok to go? Would you know if this is applicable also for US Visas?

It should be OK with an American visa, but if you're already in the US and want to get another entry stamp in your passport so you can stay longer I think they have some rule that you cannot just nip over the border to Mexico or Canada and then back into the US, I think you need to arrive from a country not attached to the US mainland. Maybe worth an email to your nearest US embassey or consulate just to check
