Which should I get?

I have enough points on Mypoints to redeem them for a $10 gift card. I've gotten 3 or 4 other gift cards from them before, and I've always chosen the Walmart cards. I do the majority of my shopping at Walmart, so it just makes sense. However the Walmart gift cards cost more points than most of the other $10 ones. I can get a Walgreens gift card for 50 points less. I can get an Olive Garden card for 150 points less. I could use them, but I don't go to those places often. Which would you do, spend more points to get a card that you'd certainly use, or save the points and get a card you COULD use, but wouldn't go to that place without the card?

Maybe, you should get the Olive Garden gift card and save it for some time when you feel like treating yourself. Then again, when it comes to value, even though the Wal-Mart gift card costs more in points, $10 will go a lot further at Wal-Mart than it will at Walgreens. That is, unless Walgreens has a good sale on something that you are going to buy anyway. What I usually do with MyPoints, is save them until I get enough for the $25 Wal-Mart gift card. It is a better value, point wise, than the $10. So that could be another option for you. Congratulations on using your MyPoints wisely!!!

Yes I will probably get the Walmart card anyways, because you're right, due to their prices, the $10 goes further there. I do my weekly grocery shopping at Walmart, so that's why I get the cards for that. I like to get the $10 ones because I'm so impatient and hate to wait!

I would go for the Walmart one because you know you'll use it for things you need. The Olive Garden one will actually end up costing you money because you'll eat out just to use it and spend X number of dollars. Or for fun you could get the Walgreen's one and treat yourself to some makeup or a product that you've wanted to try. It might be nice to just buy yourself a little present!

Definitly save. The thing about a restaurant gift card, once you use it, it's done. If you get the Walmart card or even Walgreens, you can get something that you'll always use. Even if it's a CD. You always have it. With mylot, I reached the $10 payout right about the same time I got my tax return. So an extra $10 was amost nothing. So I changed my minimum payout to $25.00. By that time it will seem more like extra money, plus it's more. Plus, if I can time that with my lightspeed points, which gives you the option of paypal, that's even more money.

I usually save up till i can get the $50 gift card for kmart. I don't go there often, but it is less points then the walmart one and their prices on stuff tend to be cheaper sometimes too depending what you buy. The last one I cashed in was for a $50 gift card for itunes. I bought myself an ipod last year and all the songs i've loaded on it came from gift cards i've earned lol. I probably would go for the walmart one. It may cost a few more points but their prices are certainly cheaper than walgreens so you could get more with it.

When ever I have the opportunity to get gift cards I am always stuck on which to pick. My mind is saying pick the one that makes the most sense so you can by things that we really need. But, man it would be nice to go out dinner and not have to worry about some of the bill. If you usually get something for the house then why not splurge on a gift card for a restaurant. But, if your going to feel guilty about it then get what you would normally get.

I would definitely choose the walmart cards if I always shop there. Also, Walmart sells a lot of practical and everyday stuff that I will definitely be able to use. It does not matter for me if it costs more points since it is more useful for me. Anyway, the gift card is almost like a free gift to you. Just think of the Walmart cards as a bonus. It is useless to purchase a gift card for a store that you don't really buy from.

I have only ever cashed out my points once there before. I got the $10 Walmart gift card because that is where I spend a majority of my money anyway. I would be ok with a Walgreens one too though. I almost have enough for another gift card now, but I think I am going to try to save them up to get a $25 one. My sister is only about 100 shy of that one now and I kind of wish I had held onto mine too.
