Catching butterfies is a common fun all over the world with. (I don't know the exact name of the net used to catch butterflies.) A few days ago one child was catching butterlies in the park and after some fun the butterflies died.I stopped him. My son was with me.He objected to my stopping the boy. He asked me why butterflies shouldn't be killed if killing cochroch(spelling mistake?!)is not a crime. My answer however, satisfied my son, that cochroch is harmful to us by spreading diseases and hence there is valid logic in killing them. (I heard that in some countries cochroch is eaten, is it true?) Do you yourself catch and kill butterflies or do you allow your children to do?

personally, I don't get it. It's like torturing the butterfly by getting it all scared like that. I really liked the wAy you answered your son's question :). It's true that people eat cockroaches are eaten mainly in Southeast Asia countries. It's spelled cockroach by the way :)

I ahev many flowers and fruiot trees etc that need bees and butterflies to pollinate them. So for that reason I actually love seeing them around and do not catch them. I recall as a child I caught them and kept them in jars etc for days on end. My grandkids got nets this weekend but they were to excited walking along the Mississippi River banks they forgot about catching butterflies etc. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

No, we did not do that as children in my family. What we did do was catch catterpillers, and save them until they turned into butterflies, then we'd look at the butterflies in their little homes we made for them until they wanted to fly, and then we'd let them go. It was a great way for us to see them, and for them to go free.

I don't think I've ever caught a butterfly. But I do remember when I was young, I used to catch fireflies! They're also called lightning bugs...they light up at night, and we used to put them in jars and just watch them. I loved running and jumping around trying to get the lasts ones. Ahh, the good days. Nowadays I don't see very many fireflies though..

I don't take catching butterflies as hobby. I don't find the good in doing that. Besides, they are beautiful and make outside world looks more colourful. I think it's best to let them fly outside. Why bother disturbing them? About the roaches, yes, some country does them. I think they make it as snack or something. I don't know how the prepare the dish though.

hi akumei hi again. No Ihate that whole idea. Butterflies are so gorgeous and God gave them to us, why destroy what God gave us, seems so cruel and senseless to me. they add beauty to our' lives and like flowers are here to be enjoyed and not destroyed I would never harm or touch a butterfly, just enjoy it and leave'it free for others to enjoy also. we dont tear flowers up and destroy 'them so why butterfliew?
