Manchester City have completed the signing of Gareth Barry for 12m from Aston Villa. This comes as a disappointment to all Liverpool fans wanting to see him play at Anfield. Liverpool were expected to sign him last season but he eventually stayed at Villa park. The 28 year old must have joined City in the hope that City will sign a few more top stars before the window closes so that they can compete for a Champions League spot next season. Money could also be a reason as joining Liverpool would have got him into CL football immediately. What do you think about the transfer?

As a Liverpool fan I have to say I am not that disappointed at not getting Barry - would rather have Alonso and mascherano playing in the centre of midfield. would much rather see Rafa spend the money on a striker. I have no problem with Man city splashing the cash but they just don't have the reputation to attract the really big names from world football, unless those footballers are more interested in money than playing the game, in which case they are not the players you want in your team,

hmmm, i think aston villa isnt fair, try to remember the last news that the pool are going to offer 15m, but they rejected the offer and thought the offer wasnt good enough,, but now the accept the only 12m from city,, wasnt it fair ??

Its rather dumb seeing Barry get 100K-a-Week deal he is not worth that much but i agree his presence will add depth to the squad but they need to get more big name signings if they are to be a real threat to the top 6 spots in the league.

Barry is good but liverpool doesn't wants another gerrard.....I am not saying that he is as good as stevieG but pays the same role for a team.......Barry going to city is good for all four......liverpool...manchester city.....barry himself...and even for Aston villa...... Liverool has good line of defence(didn't proved it tthis season but....defence is good)......Midfield is also very strong with Kuyt acting as a winger.....what Liverpool want now is a striker of fernando torres' calibre.....one who can play together with him.....Liverpool should have got Berbetov from spurs rather than keane.......His attitude is good ....wouldn't have started competition with torres and stabalised iverpool's attacks......
