I am interested in opening an online shop at ebay. I would like to ask some feedback from you. First of all do you buy from ebay? If yes, what items do you buy? Also, what makes you buy from ebay? The price? The need for the item? The rating of the seller? Let's make it a discussion also as an eyeopener to others and share ideas on creating business ideas.

I seldom buy stuff from ebay. I bought a book once and nothing more.

Well, that is acceptable too. How come did you choose ebay for buying the book and not other sites like Amazon for example?

I buy from ebay because the price is far cheaper than Amazon.

I do buy from ebay a lot and I usually buy clothes, dvds, wii games, or various gifts for birthdays......the reason that i buy from ebay is the price because in this economy i am always trying to look for a good deal, but the only time i buy anything over say $40 is from someone with a good seller rating so that does affect my ebay decision making

So anything you bought - including wii games were below $40. Does this price include the postage too? And do you regularly buy birthday gifts from ebay?

I buy rare books and lodge props. The reason that I do it on eBay is simply because it is a very small niche market. Most sellers of such stuff will not go to the trouble of starting a website for the items. After all, if all you have is a couple of items, why start a whole website just to sell them.

Yes it's true an online shop can be more expensive and time consuming, especially if you consider the security involved when giving the option to pay by credit card. Ebay is safer because payments through paypal are secure. I understand rare books but what are lodge props?

i buy from ebay, but just the cheap ones. i bought a tshirt for my son with his favorite cartoon character printed on the shirt, i also but an iron transfer of his favorite cartoon character as well. i also bought a pick necklace, some south park pick, a guitar tuner, james dean watches for me and my wife. i go for the reasanable price. if shipping is free then okay but if not i still settle for affordable and reasonable price. i also buy from power sellers so i am safe if ever the item i got was not in a good condition

that was the first time i bought clothes of my child on the net, it was not a used product and it was not even branded. it was just a printed white thsirt of pocoyo. it was maybe around 7 dollars i can no longer recall the exact price together with the shipping. my son loved the shirt so much so we decided to buy iron prints instead for it was cheaper.

That is interesting. Thanks for the response. How much is the maximum you want to spend on children's clothes. I presume that the clothes were famous brand names, or just had a cartoon character print? Were they new with tags or used items?

Better study and become affiliates only for the products that give you higher returns. And not the ones which render you to loss. Think as if it is your business and work out on commision model dude otherwise you end up in losses and nothing else-final step is bankrupt..!!

Thanks I have seen the link you sent. However, I am interested in people's responses since I would like to open a specific shop. Also, prices on Amazon, may not be that cheap and profit is not so much if the postage and package is high. Anyway, it's an idea to consider.

I buy from ebay because it's easy and i'm too lazy to go look for stuff in the shops, and also they do great bulk offers on ebay like body jewellery :) it's great, i don't often look at the reliability of the seller just the professionalism of the page that is written to describe the item., although i do tend to buy from the same seller all the time so theres no problems.

i only buy things from the ebay with the money i earn on-line , through paypal , i never want to transfer my money to my account .but i hardly shop on ebay course i don't earn much on-line , what to buy is depend on what i'm doing on that moment, for last few weeks, i'm purchase crystal at ebay , recently i planting plant , so i buy plants seeds from there , but i alway look for free shipping , it's important course some shipping fees is more than the items i purchase , i find not worst
