Oh my gosh, I am so aggravated! My family moved into public housing in February. As much as we didn't want to do it, it just made sense. My daughter, who was living with us in public housing, decided to put her own application in and she moved out. When she moved out they transferred us to another place to because we no longer qualified for the extra bedroom, and another family needed it. I'm actually pleased with the move, because now I am only about 1.5 from my daughter instead of clear across town. Although in this one horse town, clear across town is a whole 1.2 miles Anyways! Here's where the rant comes in. When we moved out, of course, they did move out inspection. They said all was clean, the windows, the floors, stove, fridge. They did have to paint 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom and the living room. They said it took 4 men 2 days to do this!! Oh, and yeah, they had to replace 4 outlet covers. But 4 men 2 days! Are they serious! I'm being charged almost 400.00 for this!!And another thing. My son and a friend ran out the back door when we first moved in. They apparently pushed the screen door to hard and it got sprung, meaning it would not close properly. My husband said he could fix it but they would not allow him to. Instead they took the door off and said they had to replace it. That screen door cost me 378.00. Plus there will be more charges towards that door at a later time. Like I said, this was a rant, if you read it, thank you for being patient with me, and if you have any advice for me, I would really appreciate it.

You know what?? I've tried. The lady in charge of it all, well, to put it mildly, is a B*tch! I asked her, why in the world it would take 4 men 2 days to do such a medial task. I kind of shrugged and said "I think someone is lying to you" and she got really sarcastic and said "My people don't lie to me." I'm sorry, but yeah, 4 men 2 days to paint 3 rooms and install 4 outlet covers, someone is lying to her. And BTW, how in the world do you put your posts in different paragraphs? It's driving me nuts how everything is jumbled up on mine. Thanks!!

cicisnana wish I had seen this earlier. in most any town in the US there is a public housing complaint place and I sure would complain about the costs of these things, as to me they sound way too expensive, they are scamming you as no screen door ever cost that much no place where I have ever been. thats price gouging in the worst way.400 dollars for painting no way. thats again price gouging. fight that go to public housing complaints dept and fight it.

It sounds like Navy housing. I tried to fight that and didn't get anywhere. Both are fighting the government. I managed HUD housing and offered the tenants the opprtunity to paint themselves befor inspection, started a coo-operative mommy ran daycare in the common room, exercise classes in the common room, co-op rides to social service apts etc. I got fired for my efforts because they said the money was to go to fancy funiture etc. And that encouraaged the HUD unit renters more gathering places and turned away paying renters. Money talks-efforts walk.
