I heard they would be making a law here in the Philippines that Taxi drivers should issue receipts to their passengers or else they would be fined. What do you think of it?

I would be supporting that law if it will be (hopefully) started here in the Philippines. Lots of taxis here does not have meters and charge a lot! Some have meters but are cheated on also lots of them the meters are not working! So making a law that taxi drivers should issue receipts to ther passengers would be good! And also, having receipts lets their passengers have evidences on how much they paid. So I really support that law if ever. :)

It is a very good decision and I welcome it. Do the taxi's have a meter? How do they decide on the price? I am tired of barganing for price with auto (taxi) drivers in India. They are supposed to use meters which show the rates. But, 99% of these motors are not working. Even though they work, they charge a lot more than the meter rating.

Yes, here in the philippines, taxi do have meters and it works. Some taxi meters still running even the taxi stop. Hehe. But not all of the filipino taxi drivers is like that. A few only abusing some passengers. And some passenger are criminal-Holdaper.

Yes i think taxis should issue receipts. That is for our protection just in case there's something fishy about the rates they're issuing. A lot of taxi operators are taking advantage of us because we're less protected or not protected at all. It's a good way to get things organized in favor of everybody from taxi operators to commuters.

Hi there. I do agree that taxi drivers should issue receipts to their passengers. Maybe this will somehow stop the practice of drivers of overcharging their passengers. I just wonder how our government is going to effective implement this, considering that there are still drivers who do not use the taxi meter to charge fares but instead ask for a contract price for the trip. I just hope our government will be able to use this system to the passengers' advantage and protection not only for their own gain. Another thing, this can also help in proper liquidation of transportation allowances. I remember our field researchers used to ask taxi drivers to sign their trip tickets to support their liquidation reports. With this new system, they won't have to ask for the autographs of taxi drivers. =)

i think that is really a great idea. some drivers are abusive, they dont let passenegrs ride if they will not accept the contract price, when in fact it is cheaper for passengers if the meter was used. some taxi drivers charged over priced contract prices... that is really annoying, because some of their passengers are not that really rich. it's like being hold-up by these drivers. the implementation of receipts on taxi would really help passengers.

Yes, i would agree to that. There are some countries that implements that method. I think that it would be a better idea to keep off some abusive taxi drivers. This will also be a good tool for companies who reimburse and give allowances to their employees.

that's a better idea becuase taxi drivers here in this city (where i just moved in) are kissing the change goodbye. if you get to have P2.50 change, thats considered thank-you to them. and hey, would you normally ask that?

Yes, i agree that they passenger should be given a receipt. It can help you, example if you accidentally drop your thing inside the taxi and you never seen it and feel it. You can track that taxi with the receipt.

Yes, I think it's a good decision by the govt. When you get receipt for using pay phone and other small services, why not taxi? If they are taking money, they should issue a receipt. I see no harm in it.

I think it's a good idea to avoid "contract rides" - which is when they tell you the price you pay for your trip and they either will or will not turn on the meter. What I'm mainly concerned about that bill is HOW they're going to implement it. We also have this bill that says that public utility vehicles could not choose their own passengers (of course that's not how it was stated :P that's just the gist as I remember it) but they do it all the time. Why? Because no one's implementing the law. We have so MANY WONDERFUL and useful laws but without proper implementation, they're all useless. Thanks for the response on my discussion!

Yes, I agree with that because some drivers here in Cebu put an add-on price to the meter since our place is far from the City, like for example when I get in to the car he will tell me I will add P30 from the reading of the meter just because my place is far. Another issue also with taxi driver aside from having a receipt they should have a seminar with ethics because most of the time when I will ride a taxi I always have bad experiences, whether they won't allow me to ride in because again our place is far.

I guess that's a good idea.. So that taxi drivers will be required to give changes. Also, passengers won't be forced to give tips.

Yes, so that when I am asked to do an errand I can tell the Boss how much I spent on the cab for easy auditing.
