Obama calls the US "one of the largest Muslim countries in the world"

In courting the Muslim nations, Obama has gone all out. He's started using his middle name, Hussein, and advised all American embassies to invite Iranian diplomats over for a good old-fashioned 4th of July picnic. I don't know if he realizes that hot dogs won't go over so well with Muslims who don't eat pork. Apparently though, he thinks some fireworks and a meal will win them over. But perhaps the most worrying statement from Obama is his contention that the United States is the largest Muslim country on earth. Now Muslims may make up about 2 percent of the population, but in a county of 307 million that's only about 6 million. We are not a predominately Muslim nation, nor do we have more muslims than other nations that are geographically smaller. If separation of church and state means that we aren't allowed to say that the US is a Christian nation, or a Judeo-Christian nation, why is it okay to say it is a Muslim nation?

Obama WANTS America to be one of the largest Muslim nations in the world. He WANTS to turn the United States into a MUSLIM and a SOCIALIST nation. He has already started the process to turning us into a socialist nation (the government will soon own the majority of GM in the next few days, which leaves me to wonder which company they will try to take over next), and now he is going to start babying the muslims and start working to turn us into a muslim nation as well. I tried to tell people that this is what Obama was going to try to do. I was called a racist and every other name you can probably think of for speaking out against him. Now, I think even some of the people who voted for him have started to realize what a screw up he is, and what a mistake it was to elect him. His true colors are soon going to start shining through, and life as we know it here in America may soon be a thing of the past...

I can see why he is acting out his politics, he always was a socialist basically, but his interest in winning over muslim nations completely baffles me. I don't know what he's trying to accomplish. Perhaps he's got some leftover issues from his childhood and feels he's got to make everyone friends. Well, that's not going to work when the nations he is courting have sworn to destroy America.

When Obama was in Turkey he said that America was not a Christian country yet there are more Christians than Muslims in America. If Obama was in Italy would he say that America is one of the largest Catholic countries in the world? That statement would be correct. If Obama went to Israel would he say that America is one of the largest Jewish countries in the world. That statement would be correct. I guess Obama only has one preferred religion.

I guess he feels that he needs to identify with Muslims. Maybe he thinks this is his advantage point with Muslim countries. But here in America, the citizenry is really not interested in how Muslim he is, we want a president who serves our interests, not the interests of these countries he is trying so desperately to woo.

Why is the world offended by Christianity is there's nothing to it? I'm offended by other peoples' encroachment of my freedom!

Sure, invite those murderers over for a 4th of July picnic. Just hope THEY don't bring the fireworks. What a mockery Obama is making of the USA in foreign relations. What a hypocrit.

Lately it seems the only foreign relations he is interested in is those that are with muslim countries. There's a great, wide world out there, but he ignores most of it while trying to curry favor with muslim leaders.

Yeah, I heard he said in an interview on French television "if you actually took the number of Muslim Americans, we’d be one of the largest Muslim countries in the world..." You know he has a problem with numbers. Maybe those extra Muslims are hiding in those extra states he thinks we have. We only have about 2.3 million Muslims in this country. 1.5 million of those are members of the Nation of Islam, which is not accepted by Arab Muslims as orthodox Muslim. We are not even remotely near being a large Muslim nation, much less one of the largest in the world. But I agree. He publicly denounced us being a Christian nation but says we are a Muslim nation. No, it's not okay, and it is a really strange statement to make.

Exactly, it was Obama who said this isn't a Christian nation. How is someone calling it a Muslim nation okay? My question is what he thinks he is going to get out of all of this, why does he so want all the middle eastern nations to adore him?

"advised all American embassies to invite Iranian diplomats over for a good old-fashioned 4th of July picnic." Oh yeah, that's gonna win em over! I've been put off by several things since Obama took office but trying to redefine this country into something it's not in an attempt to appease others is particularlly irritating. I have nothing against any other religion but don't insult the Judeo-Christian majority by pretending that we don't exist.

I don't know if you've noticed, but it's only the Judeo-Christian majority that is supposed to give up their feelings of identity and expression of faith. The president is supposed to represent America, and what America stands for. If what America stood for was anything close to being what these other nations stand for, they wouldn't all be so anxious to see us destroyed.

While we are certainly not a predominantly Muslim country, there are excellent Muslim American citizens. I think that it's important to remember that when people are referring to the entire Muslim population (as one of the posters here did) as "those murderers". We come from everywhere and we are not just a nation of English, Irish, Germans and Italians. I think that is the point President Obama is trying to make and it's more important than the numbers game.

I think that if he wanted to say that we have some fine Muslim American citizens he could have said that very easily. You just did, and I just did - why can't he say it simply? There's no spinning a remark regarding numbers into a remark regarding quality. Why is it that when Obama speaks, we have to find so many interpreters? Why are we all so stupid that we can't understand that saying the US is one of the largest Muslim countries in the world really means "we have some excellent Muslim American citizens". I am going back to school myself, apparently I don't speak English.

It makes me laugh. Obama is trying hard to woo the Muslim world. The main proof is the way he is raining money on Pakistan.Pakistan in turn getting all these money to make more terrorists whom they will apply against India.I do not knowm what is Obama's policy but can see another blunder in making.

Yes, I can understand you. My country, Indonesia where Obama got his 3 years basic school is claimed as moslem country too although our national basic princible is not literaly Islam but Pancasil means The Five Basic State Principles. But to me it was only a kind of political promotion for moslem leader who needs more support from moslem society I hope Obama's statement was aimed to less educated peoples who dont know much even their own country nor (like what) United Stated is actually, and I think it was only the way of Mr. Obama to embrace his "new friends Islamic country", using his Hussein name (moslem name), or it called as "diplomatic speaking" or in not good meaning as lip services, the most common way of non western peoples, ti attract and "embrace" in order to maake close or new relationship. That's my opinion and I wish you understand and acceptive, but above all i would like to thanks for your interesting topic so that I still want send a post to add my earning, see as more than 3 years myLot member I posted only less than 500 and collected $9, while I am looking forward to my first $10 payment hehehe..see you...

Well, good luck to you on reaching payout. That's a long time to wait, so I hope you make it. Diplomacy only works with those who desire to be diplomatic. If part of their reason for being is your destruction, being really nice isn't going to sway them.

Six millions is a lot to me. Seem like USA has large population of muslims in the country. Probably he got a newly classified number from CIA stating a much higher number prompted him to say "one of the largest in the world", we never know what is contained in the CIA classify document and the actual census figures in the population census agency.

Check out the link that hornswaggled mentioned up there. You can easily see that we don't have a large muslim population compared to other nations, it is very small as a percentage as well. But now you made me involuntarily shudder at the concept of the CIA (or anyone for that matter) telling Obama classified information. The whole idea seems treasonous.

I'm not good in politics stuff, but i think Obama was trying to make a friendly approachement with all moeslim peoples. And i think that was indeed neccessary things to do to eliminate discriminations between both Moeslim and Christian society. Maybe i was wrong about that.

Well that is indeed a sad news, the other day i heard it in news channels that the US citizens feel that they have done a big mistake by getting Obama in, reason his propaganda for Muslims.....with due respect to the Muslim brotherens, i fell that US is indeed a CHRISTIAN nation........the country where i live in is dominated by Hindus and hence they call it a Hindu nation(or Hindustan rather) it is really sad to see such things happen, will it mean a wipe off of Christianity in the near days to come, only god knows this........I pray for America that Christianity might always keep its roots deep down in every Americans heart........god bless America !!!!

About 86% of Americans consider themselves Christian. That's why calling us a muslim nation is so out of whack with reality.

Why fuss about Muslim country Christian country.there is no benefit for any body being a Muslim or Cristian any where. It is what you do that makes you or breaks you. I dont think Palasthiniens where harassed because they are Muslims. Israel wants there land to accommodate their citizens. They might have faught with Russia or Georgia If Israel was formed among them. For Obama visiting Muslim contries, He Might have looking for some oil well or oil tanker for his company. he might be worried as Bush Cheny group bought all the oil from Iraq.So he is looking for it in Iran.He might use his Middle name Hussain as thats the best buissines trick. Then Mr Najjad might think he is an insider and offer a better deal. For inviting them for picnic. Its simple too. Its very easy to discuss business over the dinning table. You try to feed them as much and push you terms while they are eating .they cant argue much with a mouth full and and you get your terms agreed very easly.

Israel is a small country in a region where most of the surrounding countries want to see her destroyed. The US has a long-standing policy of alliance with Israel. Those other countries have a long-standing policy of hatred of the US. We are trying to woo our enemies while abandoning our friends. Enemies who will rejoice when we abandon our friends, but who will still not be our friends because of that victory.

Is there any real friends in this world. I dont think so. We make friends according to the situation you are in. After the collapse of the commies in russia every thing is market driven every where. So if you get a better buisines, deal go for it.America does not require Israel for survival. Its Israel that requires America for its Survival. Us needs cheaper oil for its economy to move fast . So the president have to say anything to get it cheap. There is no real friends or enemies. it is all a bygone concept.

Pres Obama also the only president of the US saying US is not a Muslim nation. May be is the largest country with a Muslim religion but not a largest Muslim country. Because Muslim religion is not the largest religion in the US i think.

No, it isn't the largest religion in the US, it isn't a large percentage of the population at all.
