i was hit by a car just over 20 years ago and now after wear and tear (pregnancies etc) i have no cartlige in my knees anymore and i am taking celebrex for this. but, the last couple of weeks, i have noticed that my knees are numb after sitting for a long time or standing for a long time. does anyone have this too? does anyone know the cause? i want to tell my rheumie about this but not sure how to describe it.

Hmmm...that is strange. My dad had four knee surgeries on one knee, and three on the other. He never has numbness, just pain. With no cartilege, I would think it would be that way for you. I hope something helps. And by the way, I'm glad you are around today to tell us about it.

I have bad arthritis in my joints, and yes if you sit too long you will get stiff and you joints will be bothering. Take " Glucosamine" from "Quest" 750mg. the shellfish-free is the best and easier to digest . It'll take your stiffness away and pain and help your joints like it does help me.

I'd like to think if your Rheumatologist had any grasp of the speciality at all, they'd have an idea of what you were describing to them..just tell them how it comes about, and how it feels, and hopefully something in what you're saying will ring a bell!

Hey Cher Sorry to hear about your accident. That must have been awful! I'M not sure what your situation is fully but have you tried going out for long walks? Maybe it will get your knees used to movement and when its time to have a sit down maybe your knees will get stronger. All the best:) Mikey:)
