I can see so many of the school going children helping at bricklins or roadside dhaba or working as domestic helps. These children should have been in school or say playground playing to their hearts elation, but sadly its not so and they have to word hard like a bonded labour and only then they get two square meals a day!

I am also in ths US. I feel it is wrong for children to have to work at a really early age. I realize in some countries children have to work to help support the family. I can't really judge what goes on in other countries like that but I am glad that children are protected here.

Child labor had never gone down at all :| Sadly, despite all the awareness and propaganda given on the issue i dont think any of us really take steps to stop it. I have seen young kids selling flowers, newspapers, offering to clean when the traffic stops at the red light traffic signal.
Only when we individuals start taking action and form a committee in our locality and then slowly spread nationwide it is going to work otherwise it will be simply discssed on posts.

as what i said before, in Canada, if you don't send your kids to school, their government will accuse you......
child labor is illegal
since the parents will benefit for whatever your child earned for now, but, as the exchange of their miserable future tomorrow....

It is really sad to see it. Most children that work at an early age drop out of their school to help their family. It's probably because of the world's growning population and lack of jobs. Another reason why many people now don't have their jobs and need their children to help them is because machines are replacing humans in most jobs and people can't do it as effienciently as machines.

machines are usually not the reasons behind this....
since yesterdays, the children is forced to go to school and make their studies prioritized.... but these children prefer to go into city malls, dating with their partners, they don't have a value on their studies and they don't have any future plans....
soon this students became now as parents.... they have to work unto a hard labor, and the earnings are not enough.... they already realize that if they only finish studies before - their life would not be like this or that..... it too late.....
have the chance to make plenty of children..... poor family do always have plenty of childrens at least 10 kids....
the earnings are not enough.... and they are forced to let their kids do a work to help them instead of forcing this kids too to go to school.....
CHILD LABOR again.....
and the cycle of the poor life is going on and on and on......
