My grand twins had their Birthday Party yesterday afternoon and if yo remember - I di ask for advice and most of the children were physically and mentally challenged. I was praying that it would not rain as then we could have it outside. Well, it rained horses and cows! (cats & dogs are too small) A reaL tropical rain and so we had to move the party inside of the house. But was I dismayed?? No. Why? Because I took your advice. They had a grand old time colouring pictures and just playing with toys. and then they played games like hide and seek. Here, we paired up the children so the ones that really did not understand the game still had a great time. My GD - Jhordann- looked so pretty in her fai;lry outfir - complete with wings! So now they are Three years old. There was only one melt down when a child with limited speech would not give my GS the Spiderman car that he had just got that day as a present. But I was proud that Ceiran 'shared' - he seemed to know that Adjani just wanted to be left alone with this one toy. Adjani came to me several times and said 'fun', so I guess he really was enjoying himself. The Birhday cake had Caillou on one half of the cake and Dora on the other half and my GS got such a kick out of eating Caillou's face. We sang happy birthday to them seperatley and thye each had three candles to blow out. They were so excited. You all told me that they would be happy just playing together and that they would find their own level. I was so happy to see how these physically and mentally challenged children played with the children without disabilities. This is really to thank you all for the advice that you gave me. However, to turn it into a discussion, do you take advice that may be offered by Mylotter's?

I am glad to hear that everyone had a good time at the twins birthday party yesterday afternoon. My daughter would have loved that Dora side of the cake. Although with the way she has been lately I think a Hannah Montana cake would thrill her just as much.

Thanks lilybug - we all had a great time. I enjoyed it too and it was so simple. Pizza, chips, cake and ice cream and drinks. Yes, the twin's other GM has a cake shop and so she provided the cake - and it tasted and looked good too.

Hi Cynthiann, Oh I am so pleased all went well for the party and wow you are now the proud grandmother of threee year old twins, they grow so fast don't they. It sounds like fun was had by all which was the objective of it all really. Shame about the rain but that is the onething we can't really plan fo the wether eh! I do take on board advice that has been given to me by mylot friends and have taken notice and implemented some of these ideas or changes into my life, sometimes it takes a while butwhen so many are all saying similar things you just know they are right as sometimes I can be just too soft for my own good. Huggles. Ellie :D

No one is softer than me and the twin's know it too. I heard my GS crying this morning in the bathroom so rushed in and he weas in the bath without his pants on. Not even waiting one moment to either ask my son what was going on or even to assess the situation - old muggins here leaps in and lifts him up to give him a cuddle. His dad appears and tells me, 'Nice one Mum'. And of course I ws covered with ou know what as he had not reached the bathroom in time to do a biggie. He was ahaned and took off his pants and went into the bath. So, first thing in the morning I am covered with it!

Laugh away dear friend - just guess who was in the other bathroom with the hot water on trying to flush away the you know what without touching it! IO never thought to use toilet paper or I oculd have grabbed some wipes. Oh No - still so impulsive. I hope to stop this habit when I am grow up

First of all I wanted to say that I love the names of your grandchildre Jhordann and Ceiran are pretty names although I am not sure how to pronounce Ceiran. Jhordann I presume is Jordan? I'm not sure so please correct me If I am wrong. Secondly, I am so glad that all went well despite the rain and that all the children seemed to get along very well. They do say children are very smart and so those who didn't have the mental or physical disability played well with those who did. Glad it went off without a htich, but can I ask one question? It might sound silly, but I'm not sure that I've heard of Caillou. Who is ?he?

Wow! What a tradition! I like traditions like that. The name Ceiran reminds me of a couple of friend's my fiance and I have. Their childre are named Cian and Ciaran, but they pronounce it KeyOhn and Careon. We don't have a tradition like yours in our family, the most I can say that is similar is that my mom and I have the same middle name (lynne), my sister, neice, and grandmother have the same middle name (mae) and my Brother in law and Nephew have the same middle name (david). We use nicknames around our family. Most of them having to do with food. Lol. Although one of my nicknames has Lina at the end, which I found out in Spanish Means Light.

Okay here goes with the answers. Caillou is a Canadian cartoon character that the twin's like to watch. We get it on cable tv. He is a little boy that gets in and out of trouble! Ceiran is pronounced Keeran. This is an Irish (Gaelic) name and I wa so happy that my DIL gave him this iname as I am of Irish blood. Jhordann is propnounced the same as Jordan. We have a tradition in our family that all names end in AN. My husband was Ian. I am Cynthiann. My sons names are Jolyan, Stefan and Ryan and my daughter is Rachel-Ann. The GC are Joelle-Ann, Ceiran and Jhordann. Everyone calls me Cynthie - no Granma or Granny - this was always doen on my mother's side of the family. My GM was called Kathleen by her GC. Different strokes for different folks!

I actually enjoyed it too. I did not think that I would find it enjoyable but I did. My 8 year old GD organised everyone into pairs so that each one had a buddy when they played games. The child that was challenged often did not know what kind of game they were playing but they enjoyed running around the house.

Just recently I sought out advice from a particular Mylot member. So yes, I am very open about advice given to me here. I think it is exciting that both sets of children got along so well. Teaching them when they are young about differences prevents them from growing up to be like some of the people we unfortunately have to "tolerate" occasionally.

I agree - I was so disappointed at first that it was raining but it worked out so well. The idea of pairing the kids together for activities was wondeful.

Aww, I'm glad they had fun. Sorry it rained though. I take other people's advice with a grain of salt. I might ask for opinions, but in the end I'll do it however I choose. Sometimes though another person's opinion (espcially a person I trust) will help me to know that my choice is right, or might give me an idea I hadn't thought of.

Yes, they really enjoyed themselves. There was no difference in how the they treated each other and it was a lesson for adults. I think that when people share life experiences together then we can learn if someone has gone through the same problem. But in the end , it ias our own decision - especially if it is a personal one. I am g;lad that I took everyone's advice though and kept it simple with plenty of crayons etc. It felt so good. Lots of picturesd were emailed throughout the party to their Mom so she could feel a part of it too. she was glad to see them so hapy
