I have a butterfly bush in my yard it's being attacked by some bug. It's a very tiny beetle bout the size of a freckle, it's red and had a black stripe going from side to side. Whatever it is it's killing my plant. Do you think I should spray some soapy water? Would that take care of that pest? Any other suggestions or know what bug it is?

Either soapy water or diatomaceous earth are safe and inexpensive. If one won't do the job, the other one will.

Soapy water takes care of just about anything in my garden and it's safe for plants, animals and humans. I'd try it if I were you. That bug sounds familiar but I can't think of where I've seen it before or what its name would be, sorry. On the other hand, bugs have cycles. I had something eating my green beans and it went on for a week. The leaves looked like doilies! Then it abruptly stopped and the plants are healthy now with lovely new leaves.

Try Diomaticious earth and surround or drown them with soap water.
