lol These are two different scenarios. Eve was the first lady in the world, yes, but the First Lady of the United States is quite a different thing entirely. How many centuries has it been since Eve walked the earth? No, I can't see her being offended even if she were still here.

Eve should have called herself the ONLY lady - and if an apple a day had kept Adam away, there wouldn't have been any more ladies, either! The President's wife hasn't been seen in a figleaf yet (except possibly by her husband) - so she has NUFFIN' on Evie!

I've often wondered the same thing. What is up with this first lady title? Also, haven't there been aproximately 44 Presidents of the USA? How can 44 people be the first of anything? Eve aside, isn't there only one first? So shouldn't Michelle Obama be the 44th lady (or however many Presidents there were)? And when they get a female President, will her hubby be The First Man? Of course in that case, next to Adam, and if we're talking strictly American politics, he really WILL BE the first man! haha

I never understood why our prez's wife was called First Lady. Like she's ahead of every other lady in the country, when actually she just had the good (or bad) fortune of marrying an ambitious crook. I think the "first lady" should more aptly be called the Consort (a very respectable title for those who know what it means), the National Hostess or just the president's wife.

Hi there Pike. I feel that this would have made a success in the panda spanking category if you know what i mean. I always wondered how come the wife of the male President is called the first lady, as the Amerindians were first there before all the other people, and i doubt there has been any into the presidency of the USA (yet). I think Eve is still the first Lady, as she applies to all the world, while the first lady of a certain country only applies to that particular zone.

I doubt if Eve would be bothered at all. There is actually a distinction in titles. One is First Lady, or First Woman. The other is the First Lady of the United States, the title bestowed on the President's wife.

Yeah, but I doubt she much minds that. It just has to be a real bummer when they have to return from being the First Lady to being a ex-First Lady and being considered almost normal again.
