Riding across a calm lake on a boat that putts along or sitting on a dock with your feet dangling in the icy water.....pole in hand waiting for that little tug that announces your a winner? I grew up fishing with my mom and dad.....I took my kids fishing when they were little....and when they grew up I quit. This summer though for the first time in years I am going to get a license and go fishing! Do you like fishing or other outdoors sports?

Hi there Jillhill....I haven't been around in a while but thought I'd drop in and who's discussion caught my eye?..yours.
I love fishing, but haven't in soooo many years. I really miss it. I love exactly what you said..dangling feet in the water sittin' on the dock of the bay, lol! The sun feels so good, the water sounds so calming, it's peaceful, and you're right..just waiting for that little tug. What fun!

Oh yes, I love fishing!!! I grew up in Japan, which is an island and we are a big
fish eater! lol Anyway when I was kid, my father took me and my sister to the ocean and we caught many fishes. Sometimes we got up really early, but my favorite was a night fishing. You won't believe how many strange fishes that you will catch, sometimes you catch the fish that's has a strong poison so my father had to carefully remove it from the fishing line and let it go. I always carried a book and tried to find out what fish we've caught. Good old days. I still love to go but now I live in a different country. I loved to spend time with my father, going to fish was the one of my best memory. I wish I could go with him sometimes soon.

I loved it when I was a kid. My mom made her own bait from strawberry jello mix and cream of wheat. We'd make these little balls to put on the hooks. The fish really went for it. Haven't fished for ages. My daughters pre school went with my hubby. I think it would make a fun family outing.

Hi Jill, Oh I always used to go fishing with my grandad when I was small and when I go over to Spain to see my mum we fish of the rocks in the sea and catch a fair few. The one thing though I wouldn't do is dangle my feet into the water, I live by the sea by I won't go in strange creature that I am. I even was on the quay one day with a crab line but instead of catching a grab, guess what, I caught a fish the kids were laughing a lot at that one, only mum could catch a fish on a crabline LOL. Huggles. Ellie :D

There were occasions that I went fishing but it seems that I am never good at it. I rarely had any catch. Now my son who is 6 years old always want to go fishing so I bought him a fishing rod and from time to time we go fishing. He was able to catch some. So now its part of our outdoor program when I am free from my work. I also bring my family outdoor at least once a month and usually this involves a trip outside the city and staying overnight in a beach, or in a mountain. Its great and its good for family bonding.

I really enjoy fishing and went with my dad before he got old and sick. It was fun times. I would love to go now but nobody I know likes to fish. I'm not real brave when it comes to placing bait on the hook. Slimy worms, ewwww. I can't be in the sun much because of my skin. Wearing sunscreen when around the water doesn't help because of the reflection. I burn so easily. I use to play many outdoor sports but have gotten away from them. Once in awhile I will golf but I don't find it to be relaxing as some others do. Everyone is in a hurry to keep the game moving. I do love the outdoors and water but it's best I stay away and not cause more skin problems.

In reality i never fished before in my life!!So i don't know if fishing will be so nice as sports or not..may be i think as regards that normally i like activities who are more dynamic than fishing..even if i can understand that even fishing can have their goal and good time for people enjoy doing this especially during summertime and the weather is nice to spend sometimes to the board on the river!

I love fishing! There is a beautiful river about two blocks from my house and, since we live in Florida, we can take the boat out all year round. We also fish from the boat docks once in awhile. Fishing is very peaceful and relaxing but we don't get to do it too often these days. We have some weird looking fish down here, too, so you never know what you're going to pull up when you feel that tug on the line.

I learned to float fish by myself when I was a kid. My older brother had a fishing rod and I wanted to do the same. Someone gave me a length of line which I tied to and end of a long stick. I used a little stub of a stick for a float. I was also given a hook and a lead weight. Used worms and grasshoppers as bait. I actually caught fish with that from the bank. Mainly perch and small mouth bass. We fried them up for dinner. They were delicious.

I love fishing, even though I haven't been in ages it seems like. The last time I went was when my parents lived in Nebraska. That was 5 years ago, though I know it's been longer than that. More like 6 or 7 years. I'd love to teach my girls how to fish, I'm sure they'd love it as much as I do.

I use to love fishing too. But that's only when i was still live in a small village of my origin at the northern of indonesia. My house just about 10 meters far near the shore, so i always take my time to catch some fish. But now i live in the most big busy city of indonesia, so i wasn't be able to spent a time again for fishing. Maybe someday...
