Is this bad?

My cat has recently been pooping in places around my house. She has always been really good at keeping it in her box. Why would she be doing this? She is an older cat I think, at about 6-10 years old (I feel like a bad person for not knowing :( ).

Either she's not happy with the litter, there's been a change in the household (a new pet or a child perhaps?) that she's not happy with or she's ill. Try changing the litter and if that doesn't work go by the vet and see what they say.

My cat needs a vet visit. I cannot remember the last time she's been there. Thanks for the reply!

6-10 isn't old for a cat. Cats can live to be about 20. One reason for this is because she isn't happy with the cleanliness of her box. Make sure her litter is always clean and you may find the problem will stop on it's own. If it's not the cleanliness of the litter, and nothing else has changed recently, such as you haven't moved the box, then I suggest you bring the cat to the vet to make sure she's not sick or having any problems.

Thanks for the advice. We clean out her box every week, maybe its just not being done well.

Go buy a litter scoop from the dollar store. Scoop the poop out of the litter every day. Then buy some baking soda and sprinkle that in the litter. This will keep it clean on a dialy basis. Changing it once a week should be okay, but you might want to change it twice a week.

My cat has only gone outsdie of his box once ot twice and the problem was that the box was not clean enough. I think there are too many cats that just get hung up on cleanliness and will not use their box much to their owners dismay.

I hate this! My family and I will definatly have to clean her box more often or do a better job. Good thing my dogs go outside or we would have a huge mess on our hands! Thanks for the response!
