Are all Step-parents BAD???

When i was young, i used to really fear having a stepmum. This is because of the stereotypes i always see on television about stepmothers abusing their stepchildren. And i would always pray that my parents will never get divorced or separated because i'm sure that if it ever happens,i would be a stepdaughter to a very nasty woman. But thank God that never happens cos my parents are still together untill today. And as fate would have it, i fell in love and married a man with four kids! Hahah.. Now i finally know what its like to be a stepmother. Only God knows what i went through to prove myself as a good stepmother. Any of u out there is a stepmother or stepfather cares to share your experience?
Or maybe you have something to say because you're one of those stepchild who has a bad or nice experience with your stepmom or stepdad...

Do not try to replace their mother, be their friend but also be a parent to them. Never talk bad about their mom in front of them and include her in things that are family oriented.
You play a very important role in their lives and you should be proud of that role. Be strong and firm but do so in a loving way and all will be right.
