The stunning last-ball win by the netherlands over england in the world Twenty 20 opener has raised the morale of fellow minnow bangladesh, their captain said on saturday. the dutch conjured a four-wicket win against the hosts at lord'd on friday to give the 12-nation tournament in the sports shortest format a sensational start. bangladesh captain mohammad ashraful, whose team takes on defendinf champions India in a group A match at the trent bridge on saturday night, said the dutch win both delighted and inspired his men. It was fantastic to watch them yesterday, he said. "thats what 20-20 cricket is all about. Forty overs can do anything". would u think bangladesh will beat india on tonight...........

I hope Bangladesh wins. Although I think India's the better team. But Bangladesh never fails to surprise me. I was really surprised when they knocked out India and South Africa out of the World Cup. Let's see how they do.

I know that this may sound strange but I don't feel that the Dutch win was such a surprise. As an Englishman, I was very surprised by the England teams selection. With spin bowling having been so vital in T20 cricket, the omission of Swann, who has been in great form for England this year, was shocking. With Pieterson being injured, though his batting has been awful all year, there was no spin option when many teams are selecting 2 spinners. Monty Panesar could have been included as well as Swann. Also, many of the Dutch team play in county cricket in England and are good players with experience of the conditions. Beyond Walker, Bopara, Anderson & Sidebottom, England were disappointing, complacent and poor. The Nederlands were fresh, spirited and fought hard, whilst playing as a unit. To come back after the first ten overs showed real character. Their batting was measured and controlled. They were the better team and I congratulate them on their victory. Bangladesh have some great talent and will improve over the next few years. I believe that their oldest squad member is just 26! They managed to upset India in the Caribbean during the 50 over World Cup, but are probably not quite good enough to win again this time. India has too much depth of talent. Good luck to Bangladesh, and I'm sure that India will lose to them within the next few years, and Sri Lanka and Pakistan should look out to. This tournament, though, is just a few years too soon.
