It is generally agreed that US is the most powerful nation in the world. It has the biggest financial centers and institutions in the world. It has the biggest military forces not only in its own country but also around the world.
But then, since the start of financial crisis, people are saying that US is likely to lose its influence and that the financial centers will be shifted to other cities.
Military, while it may be strong, most countries around the world actually kind of ignore it. North Korea develops nuke. Israel bombs Palestine. And many more countries are facing different level of wars.
What do you think? Do you think US will still rule the world in finance and military?

There will eventually be shift in power there always is, they may be a superpower right now but if we look back in history we can see that the balance of power has changed, like how the Romans fell, and recently the British Empire, made the UK the centre of the world, and even more recently Russia was a superpower but now only America is left and eventually power will shift again.

Regardless of anyone's personal politics, realistically, no nation can remain the major power in the world forever. Similarly to the world of finance. power is becoming diversified in a lot of other ways. Remember, Greece was the greatest leader for a long time, and that's far in the past. China led the world for a long time, and is now a center of poverty and oppression. I could go on and on, but I'm sure you get the picture.
The UN was created to share and spread power. It hasn't been all that effective, but I suspect that, one day, there will be far fewer separate countries than now, and that a variety of alliances will take the leading role.

The United States is on it's way down. Obama and others like him have seen to that. Our dollar will become worthless and we will go into run away inflation. Read your history books. There has never yet been a super power rise up that didn't fall. The US will be no different. The US that I knew as a kid no longer exists and never will again. Right now our financial system is a wreck and will get a lot worse before it completely crashes. That alone will be enough to destroy this nation. There is nothing we can do to change this unless you have figured out a way to over power Mother Nature. That isn't very likely to happen.
