Do men really get more ill than women or are they just wimps?

A recent general survey shows that men like to milk it. Most men would say that their girlfriends are more ill than them. This is probably period-related but none the less, women need looking after more often. Maybe all the times men have had to sort hot water bottles and cups of tea are banked and when they are struck down with a cold, treatment is deserved.
Plus, women are used to attending the doctors for their contraception, birthing advice and smear tests etc. As men visit the doctors less, they think it's serious when they have to go.
Come on men, offer your views and let us all know, why are you dying when you're ill?

Im a vey sickly individual and i gt sick very easy around people. My guess is that women have two layers of fat which helps keep ip with deposits and warmth. So when men get chills they are more likely to be colder. That is justcoming from me since i do admit im more sickly than most of my friends and especially girls.

Well i think men are not less prone to falling to a disease than woman. On the contrary i feel that men are more prone to fall for disease simply because they have less guts to fight pain than woman. I have seen men so easily frightened of many things in hospital and common being when shown an injection while woman would take it lot easier. I think this is because woman are more used to hospital as you said and also more used to pain and they got lot better survival instincts than males.

I dont think men are wimps, rather women cannot afford to fall sick so often...they have to look after the family so if they fall sick, the entire house seems to disintegrate around them....and picking them up is so much of a bother that they would fall sick again!

i don't know if men or women wll be much ill ..but in reality it is true that i heard many girls always talking about illness and men really few!!i think men must be more ill than women normally..seeing that they must live or go out with women together...but this is just a theory...

Let me speak about South East Asia, here the doctors surgeries and local clinics are full of women, every day, every evening. The only men you find there are guys with cuts from industrial accidents or boys who think they are MotoGP bike riders and crash their scooters.
Women here go to the doctor for anything from a boil on the bum to full on serious disease, personally I think they only go to sit around and chat with other women.......... I've even seen groups of women sitting together in a surgery waiting room eating their lunch.
