Why is the Crimes against our Children Allowed to Continue?

Everyweek another child is missing, kidnapped or killed. I can't understand why this is allowed to continue happening and seems to be getting worse each and every day. A girl from California aged 14, walking to school disappears, A 5 year old child in Michigan found dead on the banks of a river. Sandra Cantu, 8 years old from California, dead killed allegedly by the hands of a sunday school teacher. A five year old girl Haleigh Cummings missing in Florida, sleeping in her bed and taken in the middle of the night, Caylee Anthony from Olando, Florida, found dead after 7 months and the mother Casey Anthony is charged and most likely did it. What is going on?? This is just 5 of many that have happened in the past year. Why do people feel they can kill a child and get away with it. We can't allow this to continue and something has to be done about it. People need to keep 4 eyes on their kids at all times. Kids can't play outside their own houses anymore without supervision. How many kids have been playing right outside and a car has come along and snatch the child. Personally I think all register pedophiles should be sent to an island where they live and can't leave that island for the rest of their lives. I believe there is no cure. They are sick and will continue to desire and go after a childrens no matter what. I can't believe we get up in arms over gay marriage but I don't see people up in arms about our innocent children. What are your thoughts and any ideas of what we can do maybe in each and every community across the Country to protect our children?

I have to agree with you. We get so up and arms over gay marriage, but what about the children? Children are getting kidnapped everyday, and what is being done about it? Not much. I am not saying to not let them grow up normally, but I am saying why not have tracking devices of some kind? Teach all kids self-defense? Create a better "Amber Alert" system.

Yes I agree with you because the Amber Alert system has to many flaws. There has to be a better way to keep track of our kids. I'm seriously beginning to think when a child is born that we need to insert some type of device that won't harm the child but will be able to locate them at all times. If we can do it for dogs and our cars why not our precious children. I actually thought why not a device on clothes but the kidnapper would be able to discard it if found. If its under the skin they wouldn't be able to find it. I know its a shame that we would have to go to some extreme but I don't know what else can be done to keep our children safe from the criminals.

The problem with a chip placed into a child is that it has to be placed under the skin. I cannot see myself, nor my children, having chips placed into their skin. That creeps me out.

I know I don't like the idea of a chip being placed under the skin but as long as these criminals are able to walk the streets and live in areas where kids are living we are going to continue to see kids kidnapped, raped and killed. The only other option is once a criminal does harm to a child he should never be able to step out of a prison again.

Yes they will pay later but right now our poor innocent precious kids are paying for it and its just so not fair.

Our society is sick...not all of us are aware. We are too much occupied with our own problems. It's getting worse and it seems the children is the ultimate victim. When a parent killed her own child that shows a mental sickness beyond redemption. God have mercy on us.

Yes its sick and scary the society that we live in. To me its gotten to the point where there are more sick people than sane. When a woman kills her own flesh and blood most of the time it has to do with a mental breakdown. As for Casey Anthony that is not the case. I believe she is a cold blooded killer who was jealous of her own daughter and the relationship she had with her grandmother. She is sick and I hope she spends the rest of her life in jail.

You're perfectly right about your first point: parents should take good care/better care over their children and should not let them play outside on their own. You'll never know who's scouting for victims outside and you can never be too careful when it comes to the safety of your kids. Regarding keeping pedophiles on an island, however, I don't think there's even a close possibility to having that solution and I'm not sure if it's really a solution. I do believe that people can change - there might not be a medicinal cure for their condition but they can seek (or be forced to subject themselves to it) for psychological therapy. In the Philippines, we rarely hear news about pedophile attacks on kids. However, that doesn't mean there are any. What we hear commonly (so common that, sadly, some people already consider it as "normal") are kids forced into labor due to the lack of a good standard of living. I hope that my lifelong dream of being able to contribute to the impoverished children's education would be met someday, somehow. Thanks for the response on my discussion :)
