Two thirds of the kids want to hear tales from their dad or mom before sleep. But in this matter they prefer mom than dad. Recently a study says 3 to 4 years children are more interested to hear tales. From them three-fourth want mom or dad tell them story before sleeping. But more than half of 3 to 8 years kids prefer mom to tell them tales.

That is interesting. Although, I am not surprised. I read to my kids whenever i get the chance. We read Superfudge and now we are reading Sideways Stories from Wayside School

i think moms got the natural talents when reading to their kids is concerned. like with my daughter, i change the tones of my voice depending on the character of the story. it makes her more interested and i can see from the expression on her face that she is enjoying and imagining everything that i'm reading to her and she responds and understands very well because she has loads of questions that it always takes me some time to finish the story.

When my husband was abroad, I use to tell my son stories, but after he came back, he used to tell stories to my son. He was a wonderful story teller and could make stories out of the blue and tell them. Of course, he was interrupted by a hundred questions in between by the little one. But to my husbands credit, he could answer almost all the questions. I too would join in to listen. it was fun. Oh those good ol days.

Your husband defeated you. You are busy with your job and internet. You have no time to tell story to your son.

I don't remember my Mom telling stories, but my Dad was a wonderful story teller and keep us entertained on many a long road trip. He made up a whole family of wonderful people and they had many wonderful adventures.
