What do your vines climb on?

I thought since we all have different homes, different layouts of flowerbeds, resources ect we could share ideas to what your vines climb on. As I may be w/o a spot for some morning glories that normally climb up my gutter. My morning glories climb on a picket fence I have, the SE facing gutter, I had them climb across yarn strung from the gutter to a pine tree it was so agressive one year and formed saggy arch over my porch kinda and this year I'm trying to get them to climb on the rail to my porch using the old hooks from christmas lights we not longer put up.... How about in your garden what do your vine plants climb on? Anything creative?

oh..i don't even want to talk about morning glory vines. somebody planted them in my neighborhood in the 1800's,and now you can't get rid of them. they grow like kudzu around here and will strange everything if you don't keep pulling them out and/or spraying them. i planted some birdfoot ivy,and that's growing up an arbor in back.

I suppose if they get that agressive where you are at then it's annoying. I usually collect my seeds so that probably helps in keeping them from going too crazy.

I was growing some morning glories at the back fence. My neighbor got his BIL to mow both our lawns because I couldn't because of surgery (still can't) and he was too busy. He paid for it, too! Well, I'm hiring the BIL cos he's so good and I won't be able to mow for awhile. Back to the flowers...the BIL mowed back of the garage this week and the morning glories were only about 2 inches high and they looked like weeds. Bye, bye, morning glories! I'm not that upset, really. I can re-plant them and tell him what they are. He did avoid mowing down my lovely wild violets so he's careful. The guy is a genius--my neighbor and I agree that our yards have never looked better. BIL is a keeper! And his wife is very nice, I actually got to visit with someone for awhile.

OH that sux! I usually put one of those lil white pickets you'd put around flower beds in spots I don't want hubby to mow if it's too small (he usually can't tell the difference between some weeds vs plants) or the rabbits to get ;0) I'm glad you found someone to help you out with the mowing til you are able and even better the person does a nice job.

we have a fence for them to climb on and after they pass that then there is nothing we can do we train it to weave it self back and forth throught the fence so far it has been working for us.

I imagine not only does it help with beautifying your property but if it's a chainlink fence I bet it helps a bit with privacy as well
