i want to go back to my field...

i am computer engineer by profession but im working as call center agent/telemarketer. i have my time as engineer in one of the bank here in the philippines, until they decided to outsource their engineering department to IBM. They said it will be cheaper for them. So all of us end up as call center agent or customer service. Even i am not working related to my field, i still update my knowledge about computer, i even take up some short courses about computer like web developer.
i been contemplating this since 2 years ago. I want to go back to my profession but my age preventing me to do it. Because im over age, some are looking for fresh graduate, or they have age qualifications, from 21-30. And also it is very competitive in this field. I want to work out of the philippines, maybe i have more chance than here in my country.
So what will i do, your advice will be much appreciated.

Its nice that you're always updated with your professional knowledge. That is a good step to take and to keep it up. What did you mean by being competitive in 'this field'? Are you referring to the computer engineering profession or the call center career?
Why not keep your job either as a call center agent or as a computer engineer. A job is a privilege, more so these days than before. You can also freelance in web designing/developing as you say or anything that is related to your computer engineering profession?
In that way, you still get to keep a stable flow of income from your regular job and have a bit of extra from freelancing as well as having a medium where you can practice those knowledge that you really to share.

Right, you just gotta do what you gotta to survive first and foremost. Then when there is time to pursue our real interest then we can grab that opportunity. Some people are quite lucky though, cause they are doing what really interests them and still manage to survive with it.

yes, some people are lucky that they love their work and its really their interest. Well we are lucky too because we have job right now, although im facing the big obstacles at work but still im thanking the LORD because i am not one of those unemployed.
