Salad Sandwich

I am eating an egg salad sandwich right now. I also love tuna salad. Chicken salad would be my 3rd favorite, but I don't have it often. I can't get myself to try ham salad, I can't imagine ham and mayo tasting good... Which is your favorite "salad sandwich"? What do you add to your egg, tuna, chicken, or ham salad to make it special?

I can't believe you have never tried ham salad. what are ya chicken? lol. You should try it, it is really good. Ham salad is definitely my favorite. Then I would have to say chicken salad, egg salad and then tuna. My mom also makes turkey salad with the left over turkey from thanksgiving. It tastes pretty much like chicken salad.

I eat ham with mustard, I just think ham and mayo must taste gross! I would probably never be able to bring myself to try it either. I've seen how it looks in the deli at the store... nope, I'll pass.

Hi katsmeow, I like egg salad, chicken salad also; tuna and ham are my least favorite. I usually add lettuce and tomato to both the egg, and the chicken sandwiches, and if it's around, I like alfalfa sprouts. I'm not a big pickle fan though. This post is making me hungry! I'm heading for the kitchen now.

I was just getting ready to finish up here for the night when I noticed your discussion. Now after reading it I'm really, really hungry and have a craving for egg salad. I think egg salad would have to be my first favorite, followed by ham salad and then tuna. I have never, ever had a chicken salad sandwich. I think it's because I feel about chicken salad the same way you do about ham salad. I don't know why because i love chicken and chicken sandwiches with mayo but for some reason chicken "salad" doesn't seem to appeal to me. Ham salad is really good. If you try it sometime, I'll try chicken salad, LOL! On my tuna salad I like to have it on toast with a little bit of lettuce. my egg salad I like on regular bread with just some butter and a little salt and pepper and ham salad I like to have just on buttered bread, no salt or pepper or anything else. I also like to have tuna salad when it's made into a tuna melt with the cheese and stuff.

Funny thing, I don't really care too much for chicken, but I love chicken salad. I haven't gotten a knack to making it very well myself, but one of the delis here locally sells it cheaper than I can make it at home. So if I am going by there, and I am hungry, I will just swing in for one of their chicken salad sandwiches. My favorite place to get chicken salad is Bob Evans, even though it's a little pricey. I will go there at least once a year, it's only on their summer menu. They give you two nice fluffy rolls. Plus, they surround the salad with all different kinds of fruit. So even though it's a little above my budget, it is well worth it. It's always fresh and delicious!

I don't really have a favorite as I rather have them as "salad" than as a sandwich. I'd probably say egg or tuna would be my fave.

So you'd mix egg with mayo and just eat it just like that? I definitly prefer the bread, but I do lick the spoon after I make the sandwich, lol.

Hey kats! You are making me hungry! I have also been on a deadly eating binge lately and am gaining weight like crazy! I know it is stress eating and I can't seem to stop myself! I love tuna salad and sometimes I will put an egg in it too! My mother used to do that when I was a kid to stretch the tuna! I still like the combo so I do it sometimes myself. Or I put onion in my tuna with mayo. I also like chicken salad with onion and mayo. I've never made a ham salad. I will also just eat egg salad with a little bit of mayo and a tiny bit of salt and pepper!

I've never used onion in tuna or egg, but I'll use a bit of sweet relish. Do you hard boil the egg before adding it to the tuna?

I love all the sandwiches you mentioned (they make me think of little triangular party sandwiches, LOL) but, since I don't really eat bread more than once or twice a week anymore, it's rare that I have them. Egg salad would be my favorite, though. With egg salad, I use eggs, mayo, a little salt and pepper, and some relish. I know a lot of people prefer onion in their egg salad but my kids find that a little stronger than what they like. My mom used to use relish and I picked up the habit from her. It adds a nice flavor. I make ham salad almost the same way and when I do serve sandwiches on a cold buffet for parties, the ham goes really fast too. I use flakes of ham or similar canned ham because it's easy to mash up in a bowl. I add some mayo, a good amount of mustard and, again, some relish. (oh and don't laugh... I read in one of the other responses about eating egg salad with just a spoon... I DO THAT! LOL Again, it's because I can't eat the bread but I do miss the egg salad. It's a tastier alternative to plain old hard boiled eggs LOL)

I put relish in my tuna salad, but never have put it in my egg salad. I know some put olive in their egg salad. I don't like green olives, so I'll pass on that one!

Egg salad is one of my favorites, I love the taste. In addition, I find potato salad to be very good. The amish around here make an excellent potato salad, to which I add olives.

I like egg salad, but only when it's freshly made. If you make the sandwich in advance, the egg smells so strong when you unwrap them that it sort of puts me off! I like tuna with mayo and sweetcorn, but not on bread unless it's toasted with cheese. I love that!

I dont like chicken or ham and I cannot bring myself to eat tuna with tomato (I dont know why... it just sets my teeth on edge!) So I guess that leaves me with the egg salad. I like most kinds of cheese in salad... & balsamic vinegar sprayed on.

I would have to say that I enjoy Chicken salad. Eggs and my stomach don't get along so I can't eat egg salad, Tuna would come in second for me.

I love chicken salad from KFC and Pizza hut. They are so delicious that I can hardly refuse if I am there so I will definitely choose the chicken salad from the others. We can obviously be adding other stuffs such as eggs and it will only be more tasty than before.
