I was just wondering if anyone does the same thing I do, which is to log back in to a canceled account to make sure it's canceled? I know sometimes they say it takes a bit, and then other times they say don't log back in unless you plan to keep the account. I like to log back in to accounts that I cancel except for those that will take it as me not wanting to cancel. I like to make sure it's been canceled so I can be assured all my information is gone.
Do you do the same? I've canceled two accounts today, both of them writing sites.

When you sign up to a website, you are required to enter accurate information if the site needs personal details in order to allow you access.
When you request to cancel an account, this account will not be deleted but the status will be made inactive. Occasionally, this means you may be able to log in but you probably would not have a fully functioning account. In addition, your personal details will not be deleted for auditing purposes.
Companies may need to produce payment details, in which case, will need to have all customer's details on file to ensure that they are a valid company and are adhering to business legislation. Any company further does have the right to take outstanding payments or any due funds accordinging to your original contract/terms and conditions and this is regardless of the status of your account.
By asking the right questions, you should be able to gain their exact policies at the time of closure. If you are worried about your personal or payment information, you should contact them and ask what security software they have. SSL is the well known, I believe. Once you have the name, you can do a search engine check to find out further details.

I actually never cancel my accounts to anything - if they haven't done anything terrible with my information, it doesn't seem like they'll do it later.
I don't like the thought of people keeping my account alive after I cancel it though, it would really bug me if I found out a canceled account of mine was still functioning.

Yes I'd be upset myself if I found that out. I think you can take legal action if that does happen, but I'd always make sure to read the TOS and keep it up to date just in case.
