When is freedom of speech abused?

There are so many people using freedom of speech as an excuse to put someone else down or to have the license to say hurtful words about an issue or to insist what they want happening. Because we are all entitled to this right, many are taking advantage of this right and don't care anymore who they're stepping on. Whether it be government or an individual. Of course, this can be good if and only if the cause is really for the good of the many but what if it's causing chaos? Unity is what we should all be running after and not seek only our own welfare. For me, it's being abused when they give nonsensical reasons for expressing their rights to something but what they're fighting for is nothing but selfish. Am not sure, of course. What are your thoughts?

i believe that freedom of speech is being abused when it is used to jeopardize the lives of others, whether in verbal/oral communication or written one. it doesn't matter if we have that right to uphold for as long as we know the limitations and responsibilities that go with such right.
