The Godfather Part 4

I love The Godfather films with no 1 and 2 being two of my favourite movies whilst number 3 is not as good as the first two but still a very good film. A few years back before author Mario Puzo passed away there were rumours that a fourth film would be made but never came to fruition. Who would like to see a fourth installment to The Godfather films or do you thing it finished perfectly? Personally I am torn as I would like a fourth film which brings it up to date with maybe the current Don struggling to keep control of the familly. But then I would hate it if it lacked the drama and intensity of the original movies.

I too like his books. I have read the Godfather and Omerta. But there are many criticisms about him regarding the fact that he glorifies mafia and their criminal activities. I personally treat his books as any other fiction, which one enjoys reading without bothering and analysing too much about the contents. But there could be others who perceive it differently .. Nevertheless, it's still awesome.

I agree, particulaly with your last point. Although I love all the installments we've seen so far, I would be nervous about watching a new Godfather-based film in case it spoilt my enjoyment or my memories of the earlier ones. To be honest, I think the the films deteriorated in quality anyway - the third was nowhere near as good as the other two - so, as much as I wish there was more Godfather goodness to enjoy, I think it's probably best to leave things as they are. From what I've read about the proposed film, it would be based largely on flashbacks, so it doesn't sound as though they have a particularly clear idea about what they want to achieve, so, yes, probably best left alone.
