Who wants peace of mind?

Many people long for peace in the world, and while it is certainly a good cause for which to hope and towards which to work, we all have to remember that peace must begin with us. We cannot bring peace even within our families, unless it is first within our own heart. We cannot give what we do not have. When we have this peace within us, then we can begin and the only limit to what we can accomplish is the limit that we set for ourselves. The annals of history are full of the stories of men and women who have achieved what others said was impossible. Food for thought for all who will accept it.

Hi mathss, Thanks for responding. My thoughts are that it is just too simple for most of us to accept. We think it has to be difficult and we make it so. Blessings.

When I see that phase I wonder just what is meant by peace of mind. Does it mean control of mind? Only peaceful thoughts? No stress, no indecision? Is a subjective thing? Can there be inventive thoughts? Those certainly are not peaceful, they carry with them the urge toward activity. Just what does peace of mind mean?

Hi savypat, Thank you for these thoughts. You have a way of getting everyone thinking. I'm going to try to explain what it means to me. Peace of mind is being content to live in the moment and except what is right now. Blessings.

Hi savypat, I don't think that it has to mean that there would be no more new inventions or change, but that we willing to accept the changes. I think it's possible to have peace of mind even amid turmoil. Perhaps we should submit the question to the Dalai Lama. Blessings.

Does this mean peace of mind equals acceptance? And if so is it a good thing or a bad? If we all had acceptance would anything new be invented or discovered? And of course then the question is. Is it important that we have discovery and inventions? Tangled isn't it? Enjoy

I want peace of mind and to me, it is fundamental for carrying on our daily struggles. If we are stressed from within, we cannot think and take decisions coolly, there is anger within us and frustration begins to set in...we thereby achieve little and then the anger starts building again and the cycle starts anew! However, peace of mind is easier said than done...for me, it is a regular continuous strugge within myself, to accept life as it comes and give my best and leave the rest.

Peace of Mind is the best feeling anybody can experience. There is no joy without peace ,but before peace can arrive is important to enforce justice.

Hi bonnybon, Thank you for commenting and I'm not sure that we worry less as we get older, but it's probably true for some. Blessings.

Does it the same as respect yourself first before expecting others to respect you? (lol) Or love must start from home? hehe just kidding pose...Right Pose peace mst be seen within ourselves before we bring peace to others. We can't expext others thou to have peace of mind as they can attained it only should evrything fall into places. I agree with you however, to have peace in the world, we must have peace within ourselves first, within the family and the neighbors.

Pose- I definately agree that inner peace can manifest outer peace. We forget that we are creatures that create ripples as we live daily, so we must know if our lives are running like a hurricane, those around us will feel that. It is also the notion that we can lead by example. If those who we come into contact with on a daily basis see as at peace, they too will experience peace. It is said this of many enlightened masters that when you are in their presence you take a piece of that away with you. I would think this too is true of our own lives. I know that this world will never be Utopia, as it is not meant to be, but I do think that our own perspective on the world can lead to a peaceful exisitence despite the circumstances. Meaning, if we work and focus on being at peace during all our experiences, the tough experiences will not be that tough. We will be able to withstand them, move through them, and grow from them.
