Rumors go rappant. Porcine flu was propagated, at least the scare of it, in order to use that time of confusion and fear to secretly private Pemex, selling the national oil company to foreign investors. Mexicans have been let down so often by their successive governments that now they don’t believe anything anymore, and it doesn’t matter where it comes from.
This was an occasion where the Mexican Government excelled, avoiding potentially large numbers of death in Mexico alone. Felipe Calderon and his government did the right thing. Unfortunately, nobody really noticed, because they did it at the wrong time in history where Mexicans partially still fear the authorties, but have on the other hand lost any respect they might have had for them the past.
It’s a pity really, I like our ‘Eliot Ness’.

It seems that this happens everywhere in the world. There have been such a number of corrupt or plain stupid authorities in the world that the people don´t know what to think anymore.
And so many times, everywhere, the government has made a right move along with another that is a shame. So it´s difficult to believe in good will.
