Changed your mind

Have any of the discussions you have read or participated in actually changed your opinion? People argue back and forth about the issues all the time but has something you have read on MyLot actually changed your opinion about something?

While it is rare that something changes my overall view of the world, a lot of times talking back and forth changes my view of particular situations because they bring new information. I like to consider it like refining my position in light of new information. As a side note, isn't is funey in campaign time when everyone is always screaming "Flip Flop" when in reality it would be just stupid to stick to a set of beleifs even when new information is presented.

I may not have changed my mind, but I have definitely changed/altered my PERSPECTIVE after researching points & topics posted here in mylot. Unfortunately, some posters only reaffirm my dislikes about them every time they post.

On occasion it's happened. For example I was a big fan of Mel Martinez until a thread came up regarding the Obama citizenship issue. Now I'm not going to argue where he was born or anything, but in that situation Mel Martinez said something to the effect of "it doesn't matter because the voters chose him as their president". I lost respect for him because he clearly isn't concerned about the constitution itself. I'm still pleased with his voting record, just not with him as a senator. who represents my state. I'm glad he'll be replaced by Charlie Crist in 2010.

I don't think I've changed my mind on anythging but I do alwyays listen to what people have to say. I think that I am capable of changing my mind but I am usually listening to others and dont have too much to say to them. I am pretty set in my opinions I guess.

Yes it has. Many times. I really enjoy this because sometimes what you believe and you read what people typed before responding you'll be surprised how they answered your question and stomp what you never knew, now knowing.
