My life

I have been a member of mylot for almost 2 years now. I have loved almost all of my time here, though there have been a few tense moments when someone disagreed with something I posted and decided to disect my character, my honor and in one case, my mother. But there are some things about me that you may not know. So: Here's the recap of my life in the Reader's Digest version:I was born in 1966 in Hot Springs Arkansas. I have two younger brothers, a sister in law and 2 nieces. I have been married to my husband since November of 1986. We have a son James, who is almost 22 and recently checked himself into a 6 month drug treatment facility. Our daughter Kristen is 20 and is a cosmotology student and the baby is a Sophomore at the University of Little Rock and plans to teach. About 2 years ago, Mike and I unoficially adopted another child. Tyra is 24. Both of her parents have died and Mike preached her dad's funeral and she looked at me and asked What are my kids going to do for grandparents. That day we became Nonny and Poppy to Jace and Zane who will never know that we aren't their real grandparents. Tyra calls us mom and dad and will continue to do so for as long as she wants. I have several friends who have been my friends for over 20 years. 1 of those has been my best friends since we were babies in the church nursery. Another joined us when we started first grade in 1973 and the 4th member of our lifetime group joined us when he moved to Arkansas in the 4th grade. We are still all best friends and we talk to each other at least twice a month. I love to cook, bake and do crafts. Before I had back surgery in 2006, I had taught preschool Sunday School classes for 23 years. I was 17 when I started teaching. Now I'm the nursery coordinator for the church where my husband pastors. My life revolves around my family and my babies. You'll often find me posting pics of them here on gather. I am now a full time college student at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. I am an honors student, have been inducted into Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society and was recently named as a 2009 McNair Scholar. I major in Advertising/Public Relations and Non Profit Professional studies. I want to go to law school after I graduate. I've never been sky diving, bungee jumping or White water rafting and quite frankly don't want to. I've never been to Alaska, been on a cruise or traveled to France, Scotland, Ireland or Italy, but would like to do all of those things. I would love to go on a storm chase across Oklahoma and Kansas in the spring when the big tornadoes and thunderstorms come through. I'd love to move back to Orlando when we retire so my grandchildren can come see me and we can all go to Disney world. I still hold the record at a local amusement park for the employee who has ridden the tilt-a-whirl the most times without getting off and without getting sick. (173 times). Of course, the ride is no longer in the park, but I don't always tell that tidbit of information. I am a born again Christian and very open with my faith. I do not believe that I am any better than the next person, because we all have faults and we all sin. I am simply forgiven. I would love to see each of my friends create an article like this, because I'd love to find out more about the people that I talk to on a daily basis!

Wow, what a great idea...with any luck it will catch on and you can find out all you need to know about your friends. I'm not part of your friend circle, but you've inspired me and therefore are subjected to my life story...lol. Here goes: I was born in Alliston, Ontario Canada in January 1975 and am 34 years old. I currently live in Cambridge, ON with my husband of 7 years and my 12 , 6 and 1 1/2 year old daughters. Needless to say, with young kids I am often run ragged. Before I became a stay at home mom, I was a customer service rep and purchasing agent and I must say, I really miss it. Now I stay at home, take my 6 year old to school everyday and try to enrich my youngest daughter's life by being her best playmate. Speaking of which, I must go because my playmate is demanding my attention but at least you got all the important stuff and I can continue when I have a spare moment if you like. Have a good night and good luck with your "article" idea...it is a great one ;)

I hope Jaydee that the friend request I now see at the top of my screen is you! If it's not, please be sure and add me the next time you're on. I can't wait to read your life story in depth when you get it posted. I'd also love to see pics of that sweet and precious little one that you are taking time to play with. Life is too short and so many parents push their kids aside to do "better" things. My experience...there is nothing better than spending time with your children.

I will never forget the time my mom got to stay home with me before finances dictated she get a job like my dad. Your kids are very blessed, and I imagine when they are grown they will fully realize it.

They certainly do appreciate it. We went to visit my son recently and he was speaking to the congregation and said "Despite the fact that my mother loved me enough to give up her life and her job to be a full time mom and take me to all my games...I still blew it." It made me feel so good to know that he was aware of what I'd given up.

173 times? Holy flying cow, Batman! By the way, you know that cow that flew in the movie Twister? What makes me laugh are people who say that can't really happen. Puh-lease. We live in twister country, don't we. We know it happens. It's always nice to get to know people better. Well, as it pertains to me, I'm 28 and was born on March 1, 1981. My dad is a pastor, my maternal grandfather was a pastor until he retired, and one of my uncles is a pastor. I love them all and attend my dad's church. But I do not want to marry a pastor under any circumstances (I had enough persecution just by being a child of a pastor). My mom has one brother, my dad is the 15th of 16 children. I have an older sister who is 30. She has been married for about three years. I started college when I was 16, but as of yet I have no degree. I had to drop out when I got to the senior level. Health and lack of funds were the reason. I have a dog named Sherlock, I will go skydiving for my 30th birthday if it is that last thing I do, and more than almost anything else, I want a backyard.

Girlfriend! let me tell ya! Do NOT tell God that you will not under any circumstances marry a pastor! Been there done that been one for two years! LOL My grandfather was a pastor too, as was one of my uncles. I saw what my grandmother and my aunt went through moving all the time, never feeling they could have a best friend at church like everyone else, because most people know their time is limited. I said Uh UH not me. So Mike and I get married. 7 years later, he tells me he thinks God's calling him into the ministry. OK Not pastoring. Youth and music work. I can handle that. (Ha! Little did I know what that would entail) But then in February of 2007 he tells me after filling the pulpit as a visiting preacher that Trinity would call him as their pastor and God would move us there. I said NO, I'm not a pastor's wife. (I said this to God...and to Mike). Mike frowned at me, God laughed and here we are. And I love it.

Well, to be honest, I would do whatever God told me to do. But I've begged, Lord please don't sent me a preacher to marry! Ironically, my sister is great preacher wife "material". All of us, including her, thought she would end up marrying a preacher. She and her husband both work in the music ministry at their church, but he is an IT director at a Bank of America. Far from a preacher! Right now, I feel so far away from ever meeting a guy to marry. I mean, I'm on disability. What kind of guy wants to take on that?

I've been on mylot for over 2 years, I'm 55 years old, born in East Orange, NJ, and lived most of the rest of my life in Austin Texas. I have an older brother, and a younger sister, 2 roommates and tooo many cats. I graduated from high school in 1971 and college in 1975 and worked for the state from 1980 until 2005. I now do home health part time and visit my mom at least 3 times a week. I have fibromylagia and try to take it easy so I don't hurt too bad most of the time, but that's more a wish than an actuallity. I have never been married (never found any man I could live with that long) don't have any children (don't like them at all) and am not now in a church, tho most of the time from the 1970's until around 2000 I did belong to a church until it changed. I like science fiction and history - the older the better.

Well, I was going to a Western Rite Orthodox Church, but it went Eastern Rite and I didn't like the Eastern Rite. And I don't like children, but I greatly admire people that are doing a good job with their children, because too many are just breeding like dogs and should've been spayed. Just because I don't care for them, doesn't mean we don't need them and the more that well raised them the better. Some of these kids are little better than feral children, joining in troops of like children and killing non-troop members like the apes might a non-troop ape.

This is true. I get frustrated when I go shopping and people's kids are running like banshee Indians throughout the store screaming and dragging things off the shelf. Mom will just smile politely and say "Now don't do that." I would be busting my kids butts and asking questions later.

Very interesting. Tell me what changed about your church. I'll bet from a pastor's wife point of view that is an interesting story. You don't like children at all? I would not have suspected that from you, as you are always complimentary about things that I report that my children do.

My question to you is, since you like graphic arts is did you create your icon here on mylot? I love it. It's very different from the rest of them here. I am a careful about what kind of information I post. No phone numbers or addresses. I'm even leery about purchasing online...afraid someone is going to get my credit card numbers and run wild.

Thank-you and yes I did make this avatar on my computer theres a larger version of it in my profile, you can check it out if you like, I have two of my graphics in my profile, and prepaid credit cards are much safer to use online.

That's a very good idea. I have thought of purchasing gift cards to make online purchases. I see some things on Eddie Bauer's site that I'd love to have, and they aren't available in the stores. Perhaps I could try the prepaid credit cards. My daughter is currently doing trade school and studying graphic design and screen printing.

As you can see, I am kind of new on here, But I am really loving it so far. to start with, why would somene have to get up in your face, just because you believe differently than they, after all, arent we all here for the same thing? to make friends, beable to get things off our minds, and make a tid bit of money along with it?... who ever did that needs to grow up. second, you are very lucky to have so many awesome friends, they are kind of hard to find. and third, I have not spoken to you before, and we are not friends on here, but, you seem like a fantastic person. I wish there were more people in the world that wouldnt mind just laying it out,... here I am.. this is what I am. I give you an A++++ for that. Thank you for being you!

Well, unfortunately it happens! I'm glad you haven't experienced it because it isn't pleasant. I had it happen here and on gather, only to find out that it was the same person. I reported him here because of his language, and deleted him as a friend on both sites, but you know it doesn't keep them from posting to your discussions anyway. Good thing about gather is that I can delete a comment. Here, all I can do is ignore people and not respond to their digs. Thanks for responding. I'm glad you added me as a friend!

Oooohhh You sound like my husband! When we first got married, he would come in from work and grab me and hug and kiss me. The first thing he'd say was "I love you" Now, he comes in and says "It smells really good in here, what's for dinner." Geez...where did I go wrong? LOL

Thank you my friend. It's great when things actually do go the right way for me and I am able to succeed at something I'm trying to do. Unfortunately, life is also full of disappointments, so I don't always win at everything I do.
