Disney--it's classic animation with beautiful music. I grew up listening to The Little Mermaid, Snow White, Aladdin, and so many Disney classics. Now, Disney has partnered with Pixar, and has created really great and enjoyable, impressing films such as The Incredibles, Ratatouille and the rest of the 3D collection.
Now, don't get me wrong, I like selections from the 3D collections too. But somehow, I feel that Disney films have been degraded, especially when Pixar got involved. I don't mean the visual enhancements. By all means, I am very impressed with 3D. However, most of the plots have degraded to just a little bit more than kid enjoyment. I know that the old Disney films were adaptations of tales and true stories and that the new ones are new, but it seems that there's little depth in the new ones. Finding Nemo and Monsters Inc. may have tried to imbibe values in heart-touching scenes, but films like those never really captured me as the old ones.
Do you have the same views?

I do agree that nothing will ever compare to the classic Disney films, but I do think the Pixar/Disney films are like new classics on their own.
The kids today may grow up with Finding Nemo and Toy Story and Ratatouille, and whe they grow up they'll probaby feel the same way that we feel about the old Disney classics.

I totally agree with you megumiart. Just let our kids of today enjoy the movies that Disney created just like what we used to in our time. That is the reason why until now, I still love Disney. I even remember then that in our local TV channel here, every Saturday, we have a Disney series every morning and I'll never forget Silly Symphony... It's so FUN to watch....
Hay... remembering the old times.

Yes, I feel strange about this too: all those technological advancements are meant to make things more enjoyable. The more recent Disney movies maybe more visually exciting and impressive, but in terms of the story itself, I must say the old ones touch my heart much deeper.

I agree. Don't get me wrong, I have the Pixar collection box set (up until Ratatouille) and only own a few of the classics as they're expensive to buy, but I find the Disney 2D animation more magical and prefer the way people are created in them for a start. As well as this, not a single Disney Pixar movie has made me cry. Maybe they don't want little kids getting upset, I'd understand that, but I think it's one of the reasons that films like Bambi are still seen as complete classics. Finally, I don't think any of the new films have songs in them which is a shame. Well, they have good soundtracks (notably the song "You've Got A Friend In Me") but no more singing which is a bit of a shame.

Anything Disney is the BEST for me. That is why I usually buy the DVD of those movies made by Disney because they have great lessons and as an adult, I still enjoy them. But the Disney movie that I will never forget is Aladdin. It was the time here in the Philippines when VHS are still the IN-thing that I watched this Aladdin tape of ours more than 20 times, i think 3 times everyday. I just love the story and Genie is so hilarious. I just hope that there will be new Disney films that could capture my heart as what Aladdin used to.
