Hi Friends a problem with my computer

Hello all, I recently had my monitor not working. It was actually sort of turning on for a few seconds and then it turned off all by itself without me pressing the turn off button. I thought that the monitor had to be replaced when it turned on that time. Again, only for a few seconds and then it turned off again. This really annoys me since i play games in my computer and imagine the monitor turning off all by itself during a game. So can any one of you guide me as to what would be the problem with my monitor? is it any power related issue or is it that the monitor needs to be replaced? Expecting a good reply from my mylot friends. Rajah Ganesh G.S.

I'm a computer tech so I can help about this problem. The only simple solution I can say is testing a different monitor on your computer to see if the same issue happens. If the same issue doesn't happen, then of course the monitor you're using now is having a problem and is defective. However, if the same problem does happen from a different monitor, then in most cases you do have a bad video card or bad integrated video device in your system.

by the way darkangel079, how much do you get paid from mylot??have you ever been paid...?if so how long does it take to reach 10$? i mean...how much hours you have to work...does it depend on the quality of the sentences typed or the number of posts that determine how much i get? Expecting your reply

According to your post when you play games and then it turns off then obviously it is a bad video card in the system. I have come across this issue various times when fixing computer problems. Therefore, I recommend having your video card replaced. However if the video is integrated in the system board itself then the motherboard has to be replaced.

Have you tried switching the mains off for the computer monitor and tower and then unplugging your monitor from the mains and the computer tower. Then plugging everything back in and switching the mains back on and seeing if it works like normal?

Have you changed the cables and checked that it ain't the cables fault? Because it might just be the cable or it could be that your graphics card is faulty like darkangel had said.
