Don't know where you remeber them from. I don't know, it's just really weird. You know you've seen someone before and you just have this uncomfortable thing you have with them, standing there and staring....but you can't figure them out.

I also experience the same situation; I had this most likely when I am attending events and gatherings such as reunion and college batch parties. Sometimes you are preoccupied of some things that you can’t remember the name of the person. You just know them on their faces but forgot about their names. Awkward as it be, I asked them their names in an appropriate way that they aren’t going to be offended. Or ask my friends that knew them on what their names are.

This happened to me just yesterday. I was in the gym attending a cardio boxing class and we were given a 30 second break to catch our breath and to hydrate. I looked out and this lady was waving at me and smiling. It was only after the class ended that I realize that it was actually ME that she was waving at and not someone else behind me. I couldn't think of anyone who would say hi to me in the gym at the time when she was there so I got confused. I realized after that she's the sister of a good friend LOL Thanks for the response on my discussion :)

yes it can be embarrassing, but these days I make a joke of it, and just say I must be getting old..every yeqars I organise an old work get together and evey now and then someone brings someone from the past along and it is very awkward so best to laugh it all off and say gee I know the face but....

I have encountered this situation before where I saw someone and I knew I met him somewhere but I could not figure out where and what was his name too. Atleast if I knew his name I could have talk to him and I did not had the courage to ask him his name because he remembers mine and it will be horrible but at last I said " Actually being Mr.." he completed my sentence by saying that "No need to say Mr and simply my name and then I came to know is name. So I was saved.

Rewiring, my dear, you have to practice rewiring your memories. But if it helps, there really are people who significantly look alike. Solution - say something like Hey, do I know you from Adam? If you had been acquainted before, then you have your answer. If not, then you just made a stranger a prospective friend.
