Who agrees with me there should be stricter laws against animal abuse?

Damn, I just heard on the radio that someone in Florida is killing cats with a sharp object, possibly a knife. The other day I heard that someone set a dog on fire. I am so mad. I cannot believe it that every day there is a story on the radio or in the news about an animal or animals being abused or killed. I can't stand it!!!! I am so made I could just cry. What can we animal lovers do? The authorities do nothing. How can we get stricter, enforcible laws? I am just sick over this. The sickos that do these things ought to be put out of their misery.

100% with you. some people poo-poo that its "just an animal" but they don't realize,as in the case of the girl who killed a kitten in a stove-that if these people have so little regard for a living being,no matter what that being is,that a human might be an equally "not a big deal" to them. look at the cat killer.they're saying that's an 18 year old. holy crap.how does someone so young get so blood thirsty already!?

yup,he's out on bail already.they were saying it could be as many as thirty. someone that sick doesn't stop with animals after awhile.i think they made a big mistake letting him back out.

A 19-year-old guy was supposedly just arrested in Florida for killing more than 19 cats. I think he is the a*hole who I started this post about. I cannot even read the story because it disturbs me so much. Watch, he will just just a slap on the wrist and nothing more. Sick.

I agree with you. I just saw something on tv about a family who's beloved dog was killed by a neighbor. The guy poisoned some meat with antifreeze and tossed it over the fence into the yard where the dog was out playing. The poor dog was 10 years old, and the family was heartbroken. The neighbor only got sentenced to 15 weekends in jail. When I saw that, I was so mad that's all he got, it's terrible how some people can kill a pet for no good reason, and get off so light. I'm sure those same people would hurt other people if they could get away with it.

I DO!! I don't understand how people can be so cruel either momiecat. It's something that none of us animal lovers will ever understand and it breaks all of our hearts to hear such a thing. You could contact the humane society and see what you could do to help get tougher laws passed. Trust me, they need all the help they can get!! I'm constantly sending in donations when I can to help these abused animals. Finances have gotten better with my husband and I so I've been donating much more often than I could in the past two years but I'm back at it once again. Every penny helps them to get tougher laws passed and I'm doing all I can by doing that. Good luck and may God bless your heart!!

Well God bless you too and may He also watch over the animals. I think you are right, we as ordinary citizens but big animal lovers need to develop a plan to see where we can make an impact in this war. A good way is to make your voice heard by writing letters, phone calls, perhaps protests, getting our faces on the news and last but not least, financial help to those established organizations who have proved that they will do whatever it takes in the "cause" against animal abuse. Thank you for your contributions and unselfish giving to help our beloved friends.

I couldn't agre with you more. It IS sickening what go through some peoples' minds. And to bring more attention to humans, it IS true that people hwo can think so sicklyand cruelly, they are high stake at doing this to other people too. I read one of your replies to somebody who posted with depression. Bless you with your reaching hands and warm heart to those furry angels who bring us joy every day. And bless the poor cat in your photo, momiecat. Thanks for all you do.

What a sweet response. I send blessings back to you also as you are obviously an animal lover and of like mind. The only thing that keeps me going with regards to my personal situation of losing several cats to a cat murdered is the fact that "they are not suffering any longer." Unfortunately, even though I had my suspicions, I could not prove (without having enough $$$$ to set up hidden cameras, etc.) who did it. I think that people who have the ability and capability to love animals are more compassionate to those who are suffering, be it mentally or physically. I think that is why I like the medical field so much. It is mostly about helping someone with physical and mental pain and giving dignity to those whose time comes to pass along to the next world.

There are laws in all 50 states. The problem is they are not always enforced. Killing a pet can get you prison time.

I absolutely agree with you. Laws should be more strict. They should take care of the issue before the abuser graduates to doing these things to other human beings. Animals have feelings and sould just like the rest of us. They are not to be hurt and killed for any reason. We have a case where I live where a man is stealing animals and torturing them raping them and skinning them. They have found over 70 animals and the details are absolutely sickening. The fbi has anounced that the man may now be doing this to women. I can't stand living in an area knowing this is happening. People like that need to be put away.

I couldn't agree with you more. The law should be stricter. People should pay high fee on top of jail time. They supposed to understand the importance of animal life. Animals can feel pain the same way we do.

I think animal abuse laws should be tougher. I mean serial killers start by torturing animals, maybe if we had stricter laws we could catch them early. What scares me about animal abuse is all the stories we don't hear about. Like when my 3 cats went missing when I was in college. Someone was killing them but we didn't know who and had no way to catch them. It just makes me so mad. All animal lovers can do is treat our fubabies like kings and queens and support organizations like ASCPA and Alley Cat Allies that lobby for tougher laws and work to make sure current laws are upheld.

You make some very good points and I can tell you are an animal lover like me. The stories of abuse are so prevalent in our society that is is just heartbreaking. When I start to hear of a story on the radio or television, I have to turn it off. Something has to be done. The organization PETA gets criticized for some of the outrageous ways they protest animal abuse but for the most part, I agree that something outlandish has to be done to draw attention to this seemingly ever increasing deviant behavior on the part of a lot of people. The laws do not seem to be enforced unless it is a celebrity case as in the Michael Vic story. Enforcement agencies will say that "funding" is the reason they cannot do more to protect animals from abuse or investigate criminal activities towards animals. I say there is no excuse. We all have to fight for their lives. You are so right when you say our furbabies need to be treated like kings and queens. That is the attitude that more people need to adopt. You are right, serial killers are well known to be abuse and torture animals. This needs to be stopped!!! I appreciate your post.

they have learned that people that hurt animals are working up to humans people that hurt animals should get more than a slap on the wrist, a psychiatric hospital and help should be the LEAST required.
